Lavender's breath hitched as she watched Parvati walk out of the sea.

Her girlfriend looked like a sea nymph as her skin glistened from the water.

Not like me, she thought.

They had finally managed to get time off together to go on a long deserved holiday. Neither of them had left Britain since their sixth year at Hogwarts which was almost five years ago now, and they wanted to escape for a little while. Although things seemed to be getting back to normal it was a slow process, and they just needed a break.

After being mauled by Greyback in the Final Battle, Lavender had been left with an angry red scar across her neck. Every time she had decided to wear a top, or dress which showed the scar people stared and it had made her feel uncomfortable. So much so that she covered it up everyday with either a turtleneck top or a scarf, but not here. Here, on this island in the middle of the Caribbean, and just Parvati for company she could be herself.

"What are you thinking about?" Parvati asked as she sat on the sun lounger net to her.

"How much better I feel here. I don't have to hide, or feel guilty for being happy. It's like a weight lifted off me the moment we arrived," Lavender replied.

Parvati reached over and took Lavender's hand in hers.

"I'm so glad that you feel better here. I know it's been tough with all the stares and the whispers, but it's nice to see you be yourself again. I know that going out here without a scarf or a jumper on isn't the same as doing it at home, but it's a start. And you should never feel guilty for being happy. The people who died were fighting to make sure that everyone had a chance to live, and part of living is loving," she said passionately.

"Thank you," Lavender said suddenly feeling emotional.

She knew that Parvati loved her and would be stay with her through everything, but she also knew that it was hard for her girlfriend to see her so down and depressed.

"You don't have to thank me for anything," Parvati said squeezing her hand.

"I do, Pav. I love you so much. I have no idea what I'd do without you," Lavender told her looking into her eyes.

"I love you too," Parvati said as she leant over and kissed her gently.

It had been a while since they had talked like this, and Lavender felt as if even more weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

Maybe I will stop wearing the scarves, she thought before pulling Parvati into another kiss.
