Hello there. I'm Rosso Angelo.

So, as you can see, I wrote this. I always wanted to write an OC fanfiction set on the DxD universe, thing that I managed to pull out after a lot of failed attempts. I know I may not be a very good writer (Meaning that I'm probably shit), so if you can point out what you see as a flaw in this prologue, or what you see as a good point, I'll greatly appreciate your reviews.

English is not my main language, and there could be repeated words. Absolutely sorry about that.

Hope you enjoy.

I do not own Highschool DxD, but I own this story.

Prologue – Hollow

A cold, chilly place, far away from civilization. Higher than the most tall skyscrapers, but more primitive and void of anything of interest. Hard to climb, and even harder to stay in there, given the incredibly harsh climate.

Yet, despite how cold it was supposed to be, and how impossible was to be there in the first place, he didn't felt anything at all. His feet were buried on snow, up to his knees. His arms were covered in snow, making them look paler than usual. His face was covered in snow, the dozens of hundreds of snowflakes that kept falling from the sky threatening to enter on his eyes and blind him.

But no, nothing. No feeling at all. His body was definitely there, but his mind was not. As much as he tried to force his sight, to see past the cliff of the mountain he was in, there was only darkness. There were no other mountains around, and he was pretty sure that there was no bottom either if he decided to jump. Even his heartbeat wasn't very convincing, or better said, the lack of it was rather disturbing. He felt more like a corpse rather than a living person, and as much as freaked out he should've been, there was still… nothing.

It was him, the top of the mountain, the snow… and the moon.

Now he did felt something. The pale moon hovering over the sky, its brilliant light washing all of his being the moment he set his eyes on it. It was calling for him, reaching to him. It tugged his heart, it was asking for him to get closer and closer. It was awfully convenient that the moon was closer to the earth than he expected a moment ago when he saw it.

Or it wasn't really the moon?

As he strained even more his eyes, trying to distinguish a figure of some kind, he noticed something. The moon didn't have its usual round shape, but there were some 'protuberances' coming out of it. The light that exuded wasn't work of the sun like it should be. Whatever that 'moon' is made of, it didn't reflect the light of the sun, but rather it created its own light. Upon closer inspection, the surface of the moon looked segmented…

With giant claws. And a giant tail. Accompanied with an equally giant jaw, enormous horns, and piercing blue eyes.

The moon stared back at him, and he stared back at moon.

It was calling him, promising him strength and supremacy. Power. No words were really spoken between the 2. Verbal communication wasn't really necessary for them to understand what the other wanted.

He wanted it. The offer was too tempting. It was what he deserved, he was sure of it. How could he even deny such a golden opportunity, lying just before him?

And then, without further delay, he reached out too…

"WAKE UP, BRO!"

As the sounds of an overly annoying voice and the door abruptly opening made their way onto his ears, the boy opened his eyes and was rewarded with morning sun entering through his room's window. Slowly raising his upper body from bed while wearing a simple blue shirt, he extended his arms, cracking his bones and stretching his muscles to better accommodate himself. He had long brown hair that almost touched his shoulders, deep blue eyes that if seen in a specific light one could note that they were almost glimmering, and an incredibly pale skin that really demanded some sunlight to regain a natural color. His body wasn't really toned if anything, above average at best.

Moving some bangs of hair out of his face, and using his still blurry vision to scan the place, he could appreciate the very simple style of the room he was in, with things like a PC set in one corner, a rather big book-shelf with a great variety of readings to its side, a drawer and a wardrobe, the both of them full with clothes… and nothing more. With lingering laziness, his deep blue eyes analyzed everything until they fell on a teenager standing in front of the door with a goofy grin, which made him sigh at the sight.

It could be said he was his age. He had brown hair almost as long as the boy in the bed, a black blazer over a white shirt and another red shirt underneath, along with slacks.

"Good morning, Issei. I would greatly appreciate that the next time you wake me up, you'll try to do it in a quieter way" The boy said while letting a yawn on his hand, without really hurrying himself out of bed. This seemed to make Issei more impatient, as in like a little kid who wants you to take him to the toy store, and is willing to do anything for you to do it.

Or in this case…

"But you wouldn't wake up, Ayame! The biggest breasts on school only appear early in the morning. As your brother, is my duty to introduce you to the amazing world of boobs and harem!"

…A hormonal teenager that wants you to go to school, just to see some tits.

'Fantastic'

"You have to add your life some flavor, bro. Today I'll bring you along with Matsuda and Motohama to take a peak on the kendo club!" The self-proclaimed harem lord declared while puffing out his chest, sharing out his indecent thoughts out loud like it was nothing. Ayame was accustomed to his brother's lecherous attitude, and while it was easy for him to make fun of that trait without Issei really noticing, sometimes it really got out of control. For some reason that he still didn't understand, Issei was absolutely determined these days to turn him into an unfixable pervert like him, which he obviously couldn't achieve. "Hurry up. Mum already made us breakfast, and I'll eat your part if you don't come over!"

Ayame simply shook his head at Issei's persistence. "Some people don't share your exaggerated tastes about women, Issei, and I include myself in that group" He said with a small smile and slightly closed eyes, finally bringing himself to get out from his bed with some effort. Standing up straight, he was definitely taller than Issei, with an eight of 185 cm, give it or take. "Now go. I have to get dressed, and the boobs you desire can wait" He ordered his brother with the smile still present on his face, pushing him out of his room in a very not gentle manner while the latter started spouting things like 'Boobs are more important than life' and the like. After closing the door shut, Ayame let out a final sigh with Issei's absence, and his smile was replaced with an emotionless stoic face.

"Fucking idiot" He muttered under his breath, his tone completely different from the polite one he used a moment before. Placing a hand over his forehead to stop the sudden headache that had formed when Issei woke him up, he went to his wardrobe without wasting any time and started pulling out pieces of his school uniform. "If he knew. Only if he knew…"

Ayame kept saying a variety of all the obscenities he knew in a low voice while dressing up. It was the normal black blazer of Kuoh Academy over a white buttoned shirt of his liking, and a black smooth scarf with golden outlines neatly tied around his neck with the end of it stuffed inside of the shirt, instead of a regular school tie. He used overly normal black pants and shoes, so he wasn't really bound to be eye-catching to anyone.

He didn't take much to time, 5 minutes at most, so when he finished he went out of his room with a small schoolbag and downstairs.

However tranquil he may seem at first, the present scowl on the brown-haired teen since the moment Issei left him alone was just screaming 'If you talk to me, I'll kill you'. If someone ever realized that Ayame and Issei were brothers, which was actually very unlikely given that the former wasn't very known by practically anyone in school grounds aside teachers and very few students, then they wouldn't believe it. In one hand you had the incarnation of all sexual desires in the world, someone who didn't have any shame on making all of the universe know about his… special tastes. In the other hand, a ghost that was better left alone, or in words of Ayame himself, "A boring guy with little to nothing to offer".

This got a specific remark from Issei, saying that he should get friends and touch some breasts before ending highschool, which his brother found 1) Unnecessary, and 2) Stupid.

Friends were only a hindrance that leeched onto one's achievements, and only came to you when they needed something.

As he reached the dining room of the house, Ayame could see his father reading the newspaper as usual in the couch, while his mother was preparing more food for the both of them. They acknowledged him almost immediately with smiles and a quick "good morning" like a parent would do. Issei on the other part wolfed down his food with a clear lack of manners, not that he really cared. The blue-eyed boy sat down across his brother on the only table in the place, who suddenly stopped eating just to look at him in a strange way.

"You stif werin' thaft scaff again?" Issei questioned in an unintelligible way, given that his mouth was full. Ayame gave him a neutral look with a hint of annoyance since he didn't understand what he said, making the teen in front of him realize it.

"GULP-Sorry" He apologized. "I asked why you're wearing that old scarf again"

Ayame was a bit taken aback, before chuckling slightly because of the weird question that came out of the blue. "Because I like it, and I know how to appreciate gifts" He answered right away without missing a beat, caressing the aforementioned item that was a bit tight on his neck.

"Gift from who?" Issei followed, before widening his eyes in a comical way and gasping dramatically. "A girl with big breasts that you kept away from me?! How could you… I thought we were brothers!"

The boy ignored his brother's ridicule conclusion, and tapped his chin in genuine confusion. "Now that you mention it, I don't really remember who gave me this. I know it is a gift, but it was a long time ago… Oh, well" He surrendered trying to remember since there were more important things than an old scarf of his.

"There you have, sweetie" His mother said, picking his attention as she placed a plate with delicious food that emanated a great smell just in front of him with a wide smile. Ayame didn't say anything, but he returned an equally kind smile to her in gratitude.

"So, Ayame…" Issei started again after eyeing his brother a bit.

"No Issei. I'm not going to tell you if I like them with big breasts and butts, or no breasts at all… And I'm not gay" The other boy cut him off bluntly, making his brother choke on his own food before looking at him with a slight blush.

"I wasn't going to say that!"

Ayame shook his head, denying Issei's attempt to actually trying to convince him he wasn't going to say something about boobs and butts. "It's written all over your face, I'm not dumb"

"Well, you are if you think I am like that all the time!" Issei retorted.

"The problem is that you, in fact, are like that all the time. And you are proud of it" To which the other teen replied almost immediately, not giving his brother any chance of explaining himself better. "It's called reasoning, Issei, and it lets me save my breath for talking about important matters, unlike your obsse-"

"I was going to ask you about hanging out a bit!" He finally cut him off, making him look a little surprised. "I know you don't like feasting your eyes with the amazing bodies of the female students of school, but I wanted to go out with you to an arcade or something like brothers after school! Hermanos, you know?"

The teen just gave him a blank stare for a moment, before replying.

"Sorry for doubting you, Issei, but no. I don't have time –Or motivation- to go with you, no offense" He rejected his offer. Issei looked dejected for a second, but ultimately complied with it.

After some minutes of enjoying what the 2 brothers alike catalogued as a stupendous breakfast made by a goddess, all while Issei brought topics about which girls were best looking and asked his brother if he really was gay, they got up of the table and grabbed their respective things for school. Both of their parents stood in the entrance with them, obviously wanting to bid farewell to the young pair.

"Have a good day on school my big boys" Their mother told them warmly as she drew them closer in a soft embrace. Issei got embarrassed, maybe thinking that he was a bit old to be doing such display of affection (Which was pretty weird considering that he always said worst things like wanting to become a harem king), but he hugged back nonetheless. Ayame returned the hug immediately, though he did it in a stiff way.

"If anything happens, make sure to give us a call" Their father said cheerfully while giving a friendly slap on each one's back. "And Ayame, if Issei gets in trouble again, you know what to do" He winked at the aforementioned boy with a weird grin.

This got the attention of Issei. "Wait, what do you mean by that?"

"He means that if I catch you doing lewd things again, I'll have the right to castrate you" His brother replied in a disinterested way.

"What?!"

"Mother agreed too, so be prepared to die a virgin"

"WHAT?!"

The couple watched with smiley faces as the teenagers went to school, with Issei labeling his brother as a dirty traitor while the other didn't seem to actually care.

- ~DxD~ -

Kuoh Academy. Previously an all-girl highschool, now accepting male students too.

For the great majority of the boys it was heaven. Not matter where you looked, there could always be some pretty girl to lay your eyes on. For other part of the students it was just a normal school for fancy-pancy people that had the right amount of wealth to enter, or real geniuses that earned their place there through studying hard among other things.

For Ayame Hyoudou, however, it was borderline hellish. The place was pretentious to no end, the insane amount of hormones in the air could be enough to suffocate you if you weren't prepared, and if you became known for anything at all then be prepared to be the center of attention for the rest of your life. Issei was the best example. You just had to do some research to know about an absolute idiot that proclaimed himself as a harem overlord all the days of the week, along with his 2 lackeys.

He just couldn't get over the fact that his brother was part of a group called the 'Perverted Trio'.

Issei had already gone out somewhere when they reached the front door of the school, leaving him alone.

Though, contrary to his sibling, Ayame knew how to lay low and restrain himself from doing anything stupid that could garner unwanted attention. That, in consequence, had made impossible for him to make any real acquaintance in the campus.

Not that it mattered. Again, it would only make his life more complicated to hang out with people that knew nothing of him.

He opted to admire the rather big building and all of the students that started flooding the place for a moment, instead of going to class directly. He had seen it dozens of hundreds of times, almost every day. He knew the academy like the palm of his hand, and he recognized ever so slightly the faces of everyone in there.

That… wasn't a good thing for him, because it meant he had gotten accustomed to one of the places he truly disliked. Even if it wasn't for the hormonal teenagers and the extreme gossiping, he couldn't bring himself to really withstand the place. For some reason, Kuoh Academy as a whole made the blue-eyed boy nervous in a way he just simply couldn't explain.

'Just 1 year more…' He thought, narrowing his eyes while the slightest hint of a grin made its way onto his face.

Ayame finally decided that it was enough of just standing there, so he started walking inside the edification and right to his class, being the 3-1 given that he was seventeen. The halls were as rich-looking as always, with floors so polished that your face reflected on it, and windows big enough to allow even the minimum amount of light to enter. Without Issei pestering him constantly, he would be able to spend his day in peace and tranquility. Of course, he wasn't the only one that could be considered as an annoyance in a regular basis. That other annoyance went by the name of-

"Ara, Ara, fancy seeing you here, Ayame-chan~"

…Sometimes you hit the jackpot in the worst, most obnoxious way possible.

"I can't really say that I'm happy about it, Himejima" Ayame replied while still walking, not really bothering to stop or turn around and face the owner of the voice. "And I don't remember letting you call me by my first name"

She giggled slightly, matching her pace to the teen's own. "Oh, but it's cuter than just calling you Hyoudou-chan~" The girl said with a hint of mischievousness. "Would you like to address me as Akeno, then~?"

'I'll carve you open and throw you into the nearest river, woman'

"You're thinking about doing bad things again, Ayame-chan~"

"I don't know what you're talking about"

He stopped on his tracks to finally talk directly to the girl. She was, without a doubt, beautiful. She had black raven hair that was tied with a yellow ribbon in a ponytail, interesting violet eyes, and a voluptuous figure that accentuated her other good points. Even the female uniform that he was so accustomed to seeing in a lot of other beautiful girls was in harmony with her natural assets, something that would surely make any boy drool just upon seeing her. This girl was known as one of the finest beauties in Kuoh, namely Akeno Himejima.

One of the finest beauties? Sure, can't argue with that.

A pain in the ass? Don't doubt about it.

And he wasn't any boy, so her efforts to make him think with his 'lower head' rather than his actual head wouldn't have any results either.

"If you want to elicit some funny reaction, then you're talking to the wrong person" He finally told her, his face betraying no emotion while arching an eyebrow. For some reason that he couldn't still fathom, this girl just appeared out of nowhere one day and started talking to him, purposely trying to get on his nerves. If she started going with the first name rule, then that meant that she wasn't going to let him alone anytime soon.

Oh boy, she reminded him of another pervert.

"Muu, you're no fun~" She kept going with a fake annoyed tone. "Here I thought you were like the other one. I think it was Iss...Isamu… or Itsuki… ?"

"Issei, and no, I'm not that desperate for a relationship like he is" Ayame cleared her suspicions, not wanting to be labeled as a pervert by process of elimination. "Anyway, as much as I –don't- like your general existence around me, I'm pretty sure you have more important things to do. Goodbye" He simply brushed her off before she started talking again, as he didn't want to lose more time with Akeno of all people.

The girl just watched the boy go to his class with a small smile and a neutral look, obviously getting the hint and not trying to interact with him any further.

"He's a funny one. I understand now why Buchou wanted me to observe him" She muttered in a low voice while crossing her arms.

Akeno spun around and went to the opposite direction, her trademark mischievous smile still painted on her face. "Well, let's just see how things play out in the future. They seem very, very interesting…"

- ~DxD~ -

Issei stared at the teacher in front of him as she explained some mumbo-jumbo about mathematic exercises he didn't really know how to resolve. Others were doing the same, and since he was on the back row, the woman wouldn't really catch him lazing off. He had his head atop his crossed arms on the desk, fighting to be as awake as possible.

It was a miracle he was even passing mathematic at all. If it wasn't because he basically begged on his knees to Ayame for him to explain the things he didn't understood, his parents would be trying to throttle him.

…At the thought of his big brother, a smile crept up his face.

'Man… My bro is a genius… I wonder what kind of career he will pursue after graduating'

Pushing aside the fact that they always argued about silly things, Issei really looked up to Ayame. Just like when they were kids, when Issei would come running to his bro asking for help about anything.

And that's why he wanted to at least make him enjoy himself from time to time. Ayame was practically a shut-in. Hell, Issei didn't remember the last time he went to the beach, or a fancy place to eat, or a party!

Even though this was his last year on school… It didn't seem like he was enjoying it to his fullest.

'No friends, no girlfriend, and doesn't want to do anything… Talk about a lazy-ass' He deadpanned on his mind. 'I really need to take him out sometime and make him enjoy the good things in life. Like Oppai!'

Yeah, he just needed to make him have fun. But what would he need to do to accomplish such a risky task, like dragging his brother out of home…?

"Issei, I can see you're sleeping from here"

"E-Eh!" Said boy shot up in a quick movement, sweat running down his face at the stern stare of his teacher. "S-Sorry sensei. Won't happen again"

"I really hope that's the case" She warned him, before letting a low sight as she turned around to scribble in the blackboard. "Now, as I was saying…"

- ~DxD~ -

The bell suddenly ringing signaled the end of classes for today. The chemistry teacher only sighed, if it was of relief or dismay, nobody knew. He left the chalk he used to write in blackboard, and without uttering a word he quitted the classroom. Everyone got with their respective groups of friends and started talking about their everyday lives. Well, almost everyone.

Ayame simply looked at the wall with a blank stare, face resting on the open palm of his right hand. He had actually managed to fall asleep with his eyes open through all of the classes, only coming into reality again to listen to the important parts of the lesson. He didn't really boast about his grades, but they were almost as good as the ones of the student council president, meaning that if he paid attention or not didn't really matter in the long run.

He could get perfect scores, it wasn't that hard… but there was no motivation for that.

The only thing he actually found interesting enough to divert his attention from the self-induced sleep, was that someone was watching him. Not like just taking a peek on him every now and then. He could literally almost feel someone's eyes burning through his back, analyzing him.

He knew it wasn't Akeno, even if did make sense in a way. They were both in third year, but in different classes, and he hadn't seen her enter just to give him headaches like candies to a kid.

The boy started to pack his things, trying to be subtle enough to take a look behind while masking it as a natural, involuntary movement of his body.

He only needed to see that crimson red hair to know who that was.

Rias Gremory, the supposed most beautiful girl of Kuoh Academy, was giving him a prolonged deep look while engaging in a conversation with other girls. She was drop-dead gorgeous, and the sight of her would surely stop most brain functions just to stare at her figure in masculine bliss or female admiration.

The girl caught sight of him staring, and she gave him a sly smile.

The older Hyoudou, however, was starting to become nervous. It wasn't because of the hormones, mind you. He was starting to see a pattern that was too much of a coincidence for it to be a coincidence. Not only Akeno stops him on his tracks almost every day just to destroy his patience like a hobby, but now it downed on him that he was in the same class as Rias Gremory. These 2 girls could be seen together a lot, and if he didn't know better, Ayame could tell that they were in the same school club thanks to hearing the gossips of classmates.

Was this their idea of a well-thought prank? Maybe they did have foul intentions and were planning something more important?

Or Issei's commentaries about his lack of friends had finally gotten under his skin, and he was subconsciously trying to convince himself that 2 girls were interested on him?

It definitely wasn't the last option. So that left him with the idea that he was being too paranoid about this, or they were purposely planning something strange behind his back that involved him in the matter.

…And he had to care about that in the first place?

He knew how to defend himself, and until they didn't start really affecting him and his daily routine with this little 'plan' or whatever it was, the teen was better off doing absolutely nothing. Some normally say that it's better to prevent than to lament, but he didn't have energy to do anything at all. Going to school and interacting with others was already draining enough, so he wouldn't rack up his head just to come to a conclusion about what to do and what not.

He stood up, grabbed his bag, and went out from the classroom and into the halls of the academy completely ignoring the red-head and whatever expression she was making.

His eyes were permanently looking forward. Anyone with good observation could tell that while Ayame looked concentrated, he also looked tired. It was like he permanently spaced out when there was no external stimulus, like a robot that is waiting for someone to interact with it.

And that's because he was. What's the point of exteriorizing your emotions and thoughts, just to appease or brush off someone? That was another tiring thing; fake that he actually was interested about a thing or that he wasn't annoyed by a person's presence.

If he wasn't so unfocused right now, the teen could tell that the world was starting to literally lose color. Was his sight being affected for the tiredness on his body, or that was how he saw the world right now?

It didn't matter anyway.

Ayame didn't take too much time to get out of the Academy. Normally he would have gone with Issei in the way back home, but he felt particularly intolerable today against perverts, so that option was a no-no. Instead he started walking in the opposite direction, just to go around the city for a bit. Maybe a change for a pace wasn't so bad in a while.

Pondering around about random things, the boy covered a great distance between school and… wherever he was actually planning on going, if there was any place in mind at all. He passed by 2 parks, 1 train station, saw a new bakery store with interesting products, or that person who cosplayed as a magical girl, among other things.

His perception of time had been greatly deluded. His head was awake enough just to make him avoid bumping into any people or get hit by a car at best.

When Ayame regained awareness of his surroundings, the sun had gone quite a bit, with only a few rays of light coming out in the sky. He also found himself coming to a halt in the middle of an unknown bridge that was above the road, the sounds of vehicles passing by at a great velocity filling his ears. How much time had he consumed by basically doing nothing else than walking?

He slowly approached the edge of the bridge, arms resting on the railing. As he admired the sounds and lights made by the cars before him, he remembered that he was a bit late on the hour, so that would surely make his parents or Issei worried.

The blue-eyed boy reached into his pocket and pulled out a dark blue smartphone. There were 10 missing calls, and 3 messages. All of them were from his brother.

-Hey, bro. Just wanted to know where you went off. We managed to peep on Katase and Murayama! Then someone gave us out and they chased us around… You should try it sometime!-

-Sup, just wanted to let you know that mum is making sukiyaki for tonight's dinner. It's your loss if you don't come over!-

-We should really hang out some time. You're been a real sad sack as of late. I'll drag you out of your hiding and make you bathe in the glory of breasts, ya shut-in!-

The randomness of the messages sent to him was astounding, but hey, Issei Hyoudou was like that all the time. If it wasn't for the fact that he was overly obsessed about women's bodies so much, Issei was a good hearted person. A shame that he wasn't aware enough to notice the signs…

"I lost too much time. Time to ret-"

"Eh… I hope you won't jump, r-right…?" A shakily voice cut him mid-sentence, catching his attention immediately. Ayame spun around his head and saw a girl, maybe a bit younger than him. She had the uniform of a school he didn't recognize, black long hair and violet eyes.

…And she hoped he wouldn't jump?

The boy darted his eyes off to the railing, where he realized that he was a bit going out from the edge of it.

He immediately took his arms off of it, and stored his hands into his pockets.

"Don't worry; I wasn't going to do something like that. I was just looking the scenery" The older Hyoudou stated, as he didn't want some out-of-nowhere girl to think he was a suicidal and the like. The student probably took it as a sign of relief, given that she let out a sigh.

"…Oh, sorry. I just saw you like that and couldn't help to get worried…" She said, to which he raised an eyebrow. Did this person know him so that she could be worried? Or was pure empathy?

She slightly shuffled her feat, playing with her hands a bit. "So, ehmm… my name is Yuuma Amano" The girl, now known as Yuuma Amano, introduced herself. He was pretty sure he hadn't seen her anywhere before…

"Well…I've been watching you for some time a-and, I know you don't know me… but I wanted to ask you: W-would… you g-go… err…" Her nervousness was pretty obvious, given that she stammered like every 3 seconds.

"Get to the point" Ayame rushed her, his patience wearing off quickly. If this was what he thought it was, then the question was already answered.

In response, she started seeming more nervous than a moment ago, eyes from a place to another and purposely avoiding meeting his directly. "W-will… Will you go out with me?!" She yelled while quickly bowing in front of him.

The brown haired boy stood still for a good amount of seconds, blue eyes closing in thought. In all his life he dreamed of being confessed to by anyone at all… so it was a first time. Hell must be freezing over.

If it were the horny human that was Issei Hyoudou, then maybe he would have accepted the sudden confession, but it wasn't the case.

Love is an illusion.

"I refuse" He bluntly said.

Yuuma looked taken aback, her eyes suddenly widening in panic. "W-What? But I-"

"I haven't met you in all my life, and you expect me to accept something as serious as a love confession?" Ayame explained, his normal bad mood suddenly trying to go for worse. "For all I know, you may be involved in something shady, and I don't want to take part in that" As he finished, he walked past her without even looking back.

"W-Wait! Then… can we at least be friends?" She told him, desperation dripping out of each word. He wasn't buying it.

"Funny that you watched me for some time. You should know that I don't have friends, and I don't plan on having anyone anytime soon. Next time you confess, make sure that you know who is the person you supposedly love before making any stupid move like you just did. Hell, look up for the word in the dictionary, and learn that what you're feeling isn't true love"

'Or better yet, learn that love doesn't exist'

Walking away from the place, the brunette failed to notice the death-glare of Yuuma and the fact that she was closing so hard her fist that it drew blood.

"Fucking brat… You'll regret this…"

- ~DxD~ -

"I'm back" Ayame announced as he stepped through the main door of his house with the spare keys he possessed, the smell of food instantly invading his nostrils and pleasing his senses. Seems that Issei wasn't lying about the sukiyaki.

And talking about him…

"AYAMEEE!"

Said teen felt like he was just hit by a train going at full speed. The blue-eyed boy was suddenly tackled by his pervert of a brother on the ground, the later crying tears of joy like he had just won the lottery.

"Get… off of me!" He ordered in a struggle, trying his best to stand up while Issei still cling to him. "You're dirtying my scarf!"

"Oh brother, I love you so much!"

"Huh?!"

"I'm the happiest man on earth, bro!" He followed, finally releasing Ayame from the death-hold. "Even though I'm a pervert and no girl likes me… I will finally become a man!"

Having enough emotion for less than 60 seconds, the older brother flicked Issei in the forehead rather strongly, making him slightly throw his head backwards and look at him with a mixture of anger and lingering happiness as he rested a hand over his face.

"H-Hey, what was that for?!"

"Now, hold the fuck on" He replied harshly, his 'obscenity switch' flipped in a moment. "I don't even take 3 steps inside the house, and you're already trying to strangle me. Calm down, and you can tell me what the hell happened that made you more happy than normal" The brunette reasoned with him, proceeding to take off his shoes before going any further.

Issei scratched his head after that, a little bit embarrassed for 'attacking' his brother while he was defenseless. "Y-Yeah, sorry about that…"

The both of them went into the living room, where Ayame spotted plates and plates of sukiyaki and other minor dishes to accompany it in the only table, along with varied drinks. Why there was so much food? Did they were celebrating something?

"AYAMEEE!"

Unfortunately, he didn't have enough time to figure out the answer because he was suddenly being squashed by 2 unstoppable forces known as his parents. They appeared out of nowhere and crushed him into a hug from both sides, expelling all air from his lungs.

"Your… your little brother has gone and done it!" His mother cried with a proud voice.

"He's one step closer to finally become a man!" To which his father followed by the same phrase Issei had used a moment ago.

Did déjà vu happened that quickly?

"For… the love of everything… that is good in this world…" The boy puffed out as best as he could, given that his voice was being snuffed out by, literally, parental love.

He finally pushed them out of his reach, and made distance. "…Would you stop trying to kill me!" Adjusting his tear-dirtied clothes a bit, he gave all 3 of the family members a scolding look, to which they flinched slightly. "What is it so absolutely good that you must make me feel near-death experiences, only to garner my attention?" Ayame questioned, held back annoyance clear in his eyes.

They all exchanged knowing looks, and Issei stepped forward with a creepy grin. He would be lying if he said he wasn't a bit scared.

The aforementioned teenager coughed on his hand, preparing himself to deliver the oh-so incredible event that seemingly changed his life.

"It's because… I got confessed by a girl, like, a real one. With big boobs and everything!" He bumped a fist in the air while saying it, a triumphal air around him. "Oh man, I'm so lucky!"

"…" In contrast, his sibling tried to process the information as best as he could in deafening silence.

Issei Hyoudou. Issei Motherfucking Hyoudou, of all people, had reciprocated a girl's feelings for him. The incarnation of sexual desires, the guy who could talk freely about dreams of harem and breasts like it was an everyday thing, had a girl who actually liked him? No normal person has ever conceived such outcome, which could very well come from a horror movie of the worst kind.

How was the universe not collapsing yet?

'My head is hurting so much right now…'

"Congratulations, I guess…?" He half-heartedly replied to the horrific news while pinching the bridge of his nose, already fed up with Issei's antics. At least the only good thing after being almost crushed to death was the ridicule amounts of food placed on the table, which could calm down his anxiety.

"Oh, c'mon, show more feeling!" Ayame felt his shoulders being grabbed. "I will take part into repopulating the world!"

"Good lord… why do you have to give me that specific mental image?" The headache was only increasing with each stupidity that left Issei's mouth, so it would be better to sit down and eat for once and all, which they did after some minutes of trying to drill him with the news as much as they could. He admitted that Issei finally getting a girlfriend was weird, but their parents getting so happy for him was just a proof on how low of hope they were for him actually doing it.

"Then, who is the –crazy- fortunate girl that confessed to you this day?" He questioned mid-eating, a little curious over who was the one courageous enough to say a thing of such magnitude to Issei. Ayame would be lying if he said that he wasn't expecting it to be a prank of some sorts, or an initiation between the girls of another school which involved destroying his brother's feelings.

Issei practically beamed at him. "She was crazy hot! I mean, smooth black hair, beautiful violet eyes, and so many curves that you could get lost in them!" He emphasized in each part, admiring every little detail of the girls. "Man, I have to say it again, I'm so lucky to have met Yuuma-chan!"

And just like that, the mood, however goofy it may be, was gone. The older Hyoudou stared at his plate of food, doing a conscious effort of hiding any preoccupation from his face. He knew all of this was too good and flashy to be true.

"Come again?" The boy asked his sibling, already imagining the reasons and outcomes of the situation. It didn't help that none of them were good.

"Oh, sorry, you don't know her. Her name is Yuuma Amano"

…So he was right on her being in some kind of shady business. A random girl, confessing to you out of the blue, wasn't something that happened because God wanted it to happen any day of the week. A part of him did want to tell him that all of this could be fake, and that he was going to have a bad time with that girl. And even though that the words were already forming on his mouth, even though his vocal cords received the orders from his brain to tell him he had just met a girl of the same name, he couldn't.

Or better said, he didn't want to.

"That's… a nice name for a nice girl, I think"

"Haha, even the shut-in of my bro knows a good girl just for her name!"

What was he doing? Ayame wasn't a drama person, and he didn't enjoy watching other people having problems. It would break his heart to tell him, true, but it would pale in comparison to what this girl could be planning to do. As much as an annoying person Issei was, he didn't deserve this.

Maybe it was because he wanted for him to feel the consequences of his rushed decision all by himself. Ayame wanted his brother to know that doing these kind of things, without any reasoning beforehand, was an utter stupidity. He was starting to have a guilty conscience for that, but what good would do to him to act on his emotions for the rest of his life?

Though watching him talk and talk about his soon-to-be 'girlfriend' with such a happy smile was starting to weight on him a little.

"…I think I had enough of the food. I'm going to sleep" He told his family with a tired face. He just wanted to crash down on his bed and think about absolutely nothing.

"Eh? So soon?" His counterpart asked with a disappointed expression. "Well… dream with the angels, bro. When you want some love-tips, you know who you need to ask to!" Issei assured him with thumbs up, to which Ayame replied with a slight smile.

"Yeah, sure…"

'I'm the worst'

- ~DxD~ -

Sunday was normally a day of bliss, for the youth at least. No obligations, only you and whatever it is you wanted to do.

That was the dilemma of Ayame.

When you were someone without hobbies, friends, or anything to look forward at all, then this kind of things happened very often. Wake up and go out of your bed, just to return some time later when you realized you have nothing to do. And that's what he did; stare at the ceiling with a half-open mouth like a damn zombie, expecting something to happen, anything. Even the activities that could distract him from this reality weren't really appealing anymore.

Of course, you can only distract yourself so much until it comes crashing on you sooner or later.

He didn't regret not having friends, though. The answer to his problem couldn't be found in other people.

All the books had been read. All the movies had been seen. All the music had been heard. All the activities had been done. So many things, but no one managed to fulfill completely its purpose. So much time, yet it seemed like it would run out the moment he least expected. It's a constant numbness tugging in your brain, and sometimes, in your heart.

'Sometimes I even wonder if I still have a heart…' He thought to himself, constantly shifting positions to feel which one made him feel at ease.

Ironically, Issei at least could think about boobs. He couldn't think about anything.

Issei… he was going with that girl today. It wasn't hard to know, given that he practically talked about her every time he could. He selected the best clothes he found, looked the finest places he could think of, and even practiced pick-up lines of all kind… with him.

Being the practice dummy for days before Sunday was a truly enlightening experience. Now while Issei acted all lovey-dovey with a fake bitch that only God knows what she's plotting, he could come up with thousands of phrases to throw off any people, because you can only interact with someone as active as the pervert until the moment you shut-off completely.

So, what to do, what to do?

Maybe going out for a walk would make him forget.

Putting a short-sleeved white shirt with black outlines, his trademark scarf, along with black pants and boots, he decided to finally get out of his bed. The travel from his room to the front door of the house was immediate. His parents were still sleeping, being the absolute silence lingering in the house the only proof of it, though he wasn't going to confirm it.

As he stepped out of the house, Ayame could feel his body starting to heat up. The sun was high in the blue sky, no cloud covering it in sight.

What a good day to feel like a corpse.

- ~DxD~ -

Issei was happy. No, that was an understatement.

He was pretty fucking happy.

Even now, he couldn't just believe it. Every now and then, he glanced at the beautiful girl that was alongside him, like trying to reassure himself that she wasn't an illusion and that all of this was actually happening. And a part of his brain slapped him mentally, telling him 'Of course you're on a date with a cutie, dumbass!'.

This way, he would be able to shut up all those people that always said he could never get a girlfriend. Of course, he felt a little sorry for his 2 evil buddies, Matsuda and Motohama. But he would be a good pal and tell them his secrets on how to conquer a woman, so they were as successful as him! (Even though there wasn't any secret to it)

"So, Ise… where are we going now?" A soft voice snapped him out of his thoughts. Yuuma was looking at him with a smiley face, which made Issei more flustered than before.

'Calm down, Issei Hyoudou! You da man, you got this!'

"Y-Yeah, I was thinking about eating something in this place I know. It's not the fanciest thing, but the food will blow your mind! After that, we can go and buy clothes, if you want"

'Smooth as silk, baby'

"Hmmm… I think it's a great idea!" Issei bumped a fist when she wasn't looking, praising himself for being incredibly awesome. The date was going perfect, so he only needed to keep it like that until the end of the day to fully gain Yuuma's heart!

Besides, keeping in check his perverted tendencies was draining him out. So the fastest they ended the date, the better!

Issei felt a tug on his shirt. It was the black-haired girl trying to get his attention.

"Ise, do you perhaps have a brother or sister?" She asked with a mysterious glint on her violet eyes that went unnoticed by the boy. At the mention of a sibling, Issei's eyes started shining in such a way that almost freaked out Yuuma.

"Yeah, my bro's name is Ayame" The way he smiled after he said that name was undoubtedly cheerful. "He's the best brother in the world! Altough he tends to be a tsundere for no reason, once you get to know him, he's an amazing guy!"

"Is that so…" The way she smiled while Issei went on and on explaining why he had the 'best bro in the world' was disheartening, to say the least. "Well, if you're already so nice, then I'm pretty sure Ayame is as sweet as you!" She quickly assured, to which Issei blushed in embarrassment.

"Hehe, thanks. He is kind of a shut-in though, so getting him out of his cave is going to be troublesome" He narrowed his eyes while crossing arms, a little bit discouraged for his brother's lonesome routines.

Yuuma grabbed Issei's hand and interlaced her finger with his. "Don't worry, Ise. Even the less amicable people can be changed with just a little… push" The girl trailed off a little on the last words, her voice and strange look in her eyes mismatched with the pure smile she gave to the boy. Issei obviously didn't pay attention to the small details, and ultimately decided that it was just an act of goodwill altogether.

The rest of the date went accorded to Issei's plan, if going to the most normal and monotone places for any date ever could be considered a plan at all. They ate in a family restaurant that, as the teen said, wasn't the greatest thing but the food made up for it. A quick visit to the clothing store proved to be the right decision, if Yuuma's better mood meant something at all. After that it was just a bunch of walking to certain places that Issei thought would make his date even happier. He had to admit it, having a girlfriend was harder than he thought! It did help that the girl was easier to please than what she looked like at first glance.

It was a busy day. The both of them ended up doing more things that what was first planned, so the time had gone flying like nothing in a blink. The remaining rays of the sun painted the sky with a color of strong orange while it mixed with the dark blue of the approaching night.

The couple reached what could be their final destination together, in the middle of a desolated park. Issei realized that Yuuma had come to a halt, so he spun around to face her.

"Ise… I really enjoyed our first date" She told him in a voice so low that could be mistaken for a whisper. "But I think this is where we part ways. Could you… grant me one wish before you go…?"

The aforementioned boy, for his part, was having a myriad of thoughts coursing through his mind in a second.

'Is this perhaps… the fabled after-date kiss?!' He instantly concluded, the 'hormonal teenager' part of his mind acting like always. Issei made sure to be prepared for anything, but even this was a bit too much. Did his breath smelled badly? Was he sweating too much? The nervousness was too obvious?

But no! He had to concentrate. This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity, so he shouldn't ruin it under any concept!

"Y-Yes? What is it the thing you wish?" Issei asked, bracing himself for the supposedly good thing that was going to happen to him.

Yuuma closed her eyes slightly, her lips quirking upwards. "Will you…"

"…Will you die for me?"

And then, his world exploded in pain.

- ~DxD~ -

'Go for a walk' he thought. 'It will make you good to breathe some air'

For a lack of better description: What a load of bullshit.

Ayame was cursing himself to oblivion in frustration. At first it didn't seem so bad to take a simple, innocent stroll around Kuoh, but it quickly turned into an unpleasant experience. It was supposed to make him feel calmer, lighter.

It didn't.

The boy only felt more miserable than before, not knowing what he even wanted. Resorting to walk just to think clearer had proven to be a bad idea, given that it made him able to contemplate just how ridiculous and void was his situation. Nothing had picked up his interest; nothing had seemed different than before. The problem, and the answer to that problem, was still a mystery for Ayame.

Again, it was frustrating. He was honestly trying his best to unravel the reason of his constant numbness, meditating for extended periods of time… and this is what he got? A roundabout?

It seemed like, every time he got 1 step closer to figure out what was happening with him, he took 2 steps backwards. Every time he thought he was going to get the answer, he went back to square one.

And given how things were, he wasn't going to know anytime soon.

After spacing out for quite some time, the day was nearing its end. He really had to stop doing that, or else all of his days onwards were going to be wasted just like today.

Ayame analyzed the place he was in that time. He stopped at some empty park he didn't know. It was to be expected, at this hour it would be weird if there were a lot of people going from here to there. The cold breeze that blew every now and then made him shiver a little, since a shirt and a scarf weren't enough to counteract the cold.

"Just my luck. Now from where I return to my house?"

The blue-eyed boy went deeper in the place, his sight darting from a place to another.

He joined his hands in front of his face, ready to blow some air to warm up a little….

"…Will you die for me?"

…And then completely stopped.

Normally, when you were alone, hearing or seeing bizarre things wasn't so strange. A silly sentence or a funny sound.

Yet the combinations of words used in that specific request that could be heard all around the park, was simply and utterly disturbing to say the least.

It wasn't just 'go die' or 'I'll kill you', which was more understandable.

'Will you die for me?'

Will you abandon all what you are, and die for my sake?

SHICK

And consequently, the sound of something being ripped apart filled his ears.

Ayame raised his sight, unconsciously holding his breath for whatever it was he was going to see.

In front of him, just various meters away, were 2 people. Standing as far as he was, it was a little hard to distinguish the specific details, but enough observation told him enough.

The stupid bitch from the other day… Yuuma, was her name. She was wearing a provocative leather outfit that seemed to do honor to her nickname, but the most shocking thing wasn't the choice of clothes in a place like that. It was the fact that from her back were sprouting enormous black-feathered wings, slightly illuminated by the face of the moon that was starting to show up in the sky. They looked pretty real.

But no. Even if she was supposed to be the main reason of him turning his head, that wasn't what really caught his attention.

In front of Yuuma, was Issei. Ayame was sure of it. The expensive-looking clothes were the same his brother put on before going out.

Some kind of light with the shape of a spear was embedded deep on his stomach, smoke steadily coming out of the injury. Crimson blood stained his entire figure, while he opened and closed his mouth, apparently not knowing what to do with it. Just as the boy tried to grasp the strange weapon with his hand, it disappeared in thin air, spilling all the rest of his guts that weren't entirely damaged in the cold ground. Issei himself followed suit, falling on his face with a loud thud in a pool of sticky red ooze.

"Hmm… for someone with a sacred gear, you surely didn't last a lot" Yuuma remarked with sadistic satisfaction. Seconds later, she realized that Ayame was there, which made her paint a creepy smile on her face.

"Oooh… if it isn't Mr. Lonesome in person. This must be destiny"

He didn't give any reaction to the snarky call. His face would be a stoic one, if it wasn't for the fact that he had his eyes wide open like platters.

"You know, I was actually planning on going to search you myself after I finished with the vermin of your brother" She explained while pointing to the dead meat that looked like Issei. "But you made my job easier than what I thought"

In a moment, the same light from before agglomerated in the palm of her right hand from nowhere, forming another spear.

"I gave Issei a quick death, because he at least entertained me a bit. Only if you were more naïve like him…"

She was slowly approaching to him. Ayame knew she could kill him in a whim.

Then why his legs refused to move?

He just couldn't be scared, of all things. He wasn't scared of anything. That wasn't possible.

The black-haired girl grinned dangerously at him. "I'll make sure you feel pain like you never felt before, you trash. You'll regret the day you talked down on me"

With a quick movement of her hand, the spear was flying at impossible speeds in his direction.

The brunette reacted quickly by raising his arms over his face, action that was more instinctual than anything. His brain was paralyzed by a feeling he didn't understand, and doing any other things was nigh impossible.

SCHUNK

Wetness sprawled around his torso and face, all while he lost feeling on his left arm. Stumbling backwards a bit from the force of impact, Ayame uncovered his sight.

His left arm had been completely destroyed. Small chunks of flesh hanged on from the remaining piece of bone still attached to him, which was equally broken. The teen only stared at the severed part of the limb lying on the ground, doing involuntary twitches thanks to cutting connection with the main body. The smell of burnt meat pierced his nostrils, provoking him a slight loss of balance. His skin was so pale that the blood was even more visible on him.

The worst was a burning sensation spreading from the wound, to all of his being.

…Was this pain?

'No, no, no, no nononononoo'

His blue pupils dilated, and his heartbeat was going faster than before.

'I just can't die. It is stupid, impossible, unfathomable…'

"Hahahahahahahhahha! Yes, that's the expression I want to see!" The dark angel-like woman before him said with a delighted voice. "I have to say, trying to flirt with you is like trying to flirt with a stone. I doubted you had any feelings, hahahahah!"

This situation was overwhelming him unlike any other before. Issei was dead; he had lost his arm and was probably going to die too. Ayame was always in control of any problem he had ever faced, and for something like this to happen at all-

'This…This is my fault'

-And then it suddenly downed onto him. Ayame could be searching for the answers he wanted, and Issei could have fantasized about boobs, if he had brought up the fact that Yuuma wasn't who she said to be in the first place. All of this could've been avoided if he forgave his brother's lecherous attitude, and let something like that slide.

The irony was strong. 'Live and let live', some say.

But it was too late now.

"Haha..." The bitch's laughter died down after a few minutes, and she became entirely focused on him. "…This was a really good day, Mr. Lonesome. It was fun while it lasted, I'll admit it, but now I have to bid you farewell…

Another spear, even bigger that the other one.

"…Goodbye"

The force of a heavy object crashing against his body struck him down.

Looking at his torso, Ayame noted that there was… nothing.

Where his heart should be, there was an enormous gaping hole from which fell small trails of blood, along with smoke caused with the burns from that strange weapon.

The light on his eyes was gone, and after stumbling a bit from front to back, he finally fell on his non-existent chest. It was pretty convenient that his head was looking at Issei's direction when on the ground, like it was God making sure he was observing the pain and suffering he had caused thanks to his rotten personality.

Oxygen wasn't reaching his lungs. His heart wasn't pumping blood.

He knew it was futile, given that he had lost those vital organs a moment before, so he stopped breathing willingly.

The only stimulus he was receiving was the sound of distant footsteps. Great, the bitch at least had the decency to let them die alone in the middle of a park without her bothering them.

Dying was a lot more frustrating that what it seems like. Darkness was encroaching around him from all sides, yet he had to wait for it to have any effect.

He was certain that if hell existed, he was going straight there. No questions asked.

Unfortunately, his thoughts on how his dead would play out at the end were interrupted with a strange red light that filled everything as far as his eyes could see. Red crimson hair swaying beautifully, as red as the blood that permeated his and Isse's bodies, along with the park around them. It was a beautiful sight…

The owner of that red hair that appeared out of nowhere darted her eyes between him and Issei with a neutral look. She finally rested her eyes on Ayame, and dedicated him a sad face.

That mysterious woman put a hand above Issei's body, and they both disappeared immediately in another red flash of light, leaving him all alone.

It happened so fast he had a hart time registering it, but he understood more or less what happened.

'...So… I live alone… and die alone…' As much as broken his body and mind were, he had enough energy to make that internal statement. Even his brother had gone away.

He would disappear as he wanted to disappear.

Alone, and with a hole on his heart.

(…It is a shame that I have to meet my current host in such a dire situation…)

But sometimes, you're not really alone.

(My name is Albion. Your motivation to seek for an objective has reached out to me, Ayame Hyoudou.)

Maybe all of this was a bad nightmare… a nightmare that he would end up awaking from sooner or later.

(I'll save your life, and in return you will make the name of the 'White Dragon Emperor' known through the entire world. You'll show them the power of someone who has nothing to lose, and everything to gain.)

Blue violet light emanated from the massive hole on Ayame's body, lighting up the dark night around him.

(Rise in supremacy. Become the Heavenly Dragon.)

For all he knew, even if Ayame awoke from this terrible nightmare…

…He was pretty sure that the world wouldn't be the same once he opened his eyes again.

And cut.

I wanted to make out some points before I keep writing. Wouldn't want to waste your time reading something you won't like.

There's not going to be a harem for Ayame's part. He's abrasive in nature, and even making friends is a life-challenge for him. If the story goes in a certain way, he'll have a normal relationship. With who... That, I don't know. Issei stays like always, though I'll tweak things here and there.

This story isn't going to be the brightest ever written. It'll have its funny moments, but happy situations aren't the thing I'm trying to explore with this.

Don't ask me to update, please. Quality over quantity means that I have to take my time. A failed product isn't worth my effort.

And if you're going to review, please make it as constructive and well done as possible. I know it may be a little hypocritic to ask you something like that, given that I'm not the best at writing either, but I will be extremely grateful if you grant me that simple wish.

Hope you enjoyed this rushed work. Peace.
