A/N: (2/10/14) Been working on this off and on for a while, but never got a chance to fully finish it until now. So this is major revised version from 8 years ago, still the same plotline (to those who remembers it) but a lot of the sectional parts we're taken/changed out and added in. Just so the flow is better and makes more sense. It ended up being a bit longer than the original one, so I decided to break it up in two parts. Well enjoy!

"Where'd You Go – Part 1 of 2"

Present Time – Ages: Ash, Gary & Misty – 24

All eyes were on the soon to be husband and wife, as Ash's jet black eyes locked onto Misty's emerald eyes in front of the church altar. Even though it was only for a brief moment, he took in all of Misty's beauty. There she stood in a white wedding dress with little baby blue pearls intertwined with the lace all around, with a matching veil. Her shoulder length hair barely showed off the lace straps that hung off both shoulders. Definitely a breathe taking moment to any man who saw her. And with that, all Ash could do is just smile confidently and wait for the two words to continue onto the next part of the ceremony.

Once 'I Do' escaped from Misty's mouth, all eyes shifted towards Ash when the Priest turned to him asking for the rings of the bride's and groom's. Being the Best Man and somewhat Maid of Honor; due to their history, Ash proudly held out both rings for the blessing.

Gary; in a black tuxedo with a purple vest, genuinely eyed Ash placing his ring in his fiancée's hand, as he then received the biggest, goofiest grin from him before receiving Misty's ring into his hand. He knew it was his Best Man's way of calming him down and letting him know he has given his full blessing for the both of them. From an outsider point of view, it seem like Ash and Gary were the ones to be wed from the looks they were giving each other.

The understanding, bonding moment was shortly broken by a settle, clearing of the throat by the Priest. Gary then lightheartedly pushed Ash away and returned his adoring gaze to his soon-to-be wife. Receiving a 'can't believe that just happen' look from her, he just gave her a smile and held up her left hand.

"Misty, I give you this ring as a symbol of our vows, and with all that I am, and all that I have." Gary glided the ring on Misty's ring finger and kissed it before letting go.

Misty hid her giddiness, as kept herself calm when she grabbed a hold of his left hand. "Gary, I give you this ring as a symbol of our vows, and with all that I am, and all that I have." Misty smiled sincerely, placing the ring on Gary's ring finger.

Holding both of each others hand, in hand, and staring at each other into the eyes, the two inhaled to exchange the next part of the vow in unison. "Take and wear this ring as a sign of our marriage vows and our faithful love for each other. With this ring I wed you; with my body I honor you; and with all my worldly goods I endow you." Gary and Misty than both looked over at the Priest.

"In as much as you have each pledged to the other your lifelong commitment, love and devotion, I now pronounce you husband and wife. And Gary you may kiss the bride." The Priest announce throughout the church, as everybody cheered at the passionate kiss the newlywed shared.

** Reception Party in the Backyard of the Oak's Mansion **

Few hours into the reception party, everybody was half way into their meals when a bunch of waiters and waitresses started handing out the toast glass to the guests. Once Ash saw everyone had received their glass, he stood up from his seat at the main table and grabbed the microphone. Calling out for everyone's attention, he cleared his throat and looked down at Gary and Misty.

"Gary, Misty, I love you guys both. But I have to say this was one hell of an experience for the three of us, huh?" Ash asked as he, Gary and Misty smiled at each other and started thinking how it all started years ago.

Where'd you go?
I miss you so
Seems like its been forever
That you've been gone

** Ash's 18th Birthday Party in the Backyard of the Oak's Mansion **

Misty; in a long black halter neck tie dress walked through the back-doors onto the stone balcony, as her medium length hair flowed with the light current wind. Tucking parts of her hair behind her ears, she held onto her purse when she rested her forearms on the balcony's railing. The spot where she stood at had a good view of the whole backyard and the marble floors that were installed for Samuel and Delia's backyard wedding event over two years ago.

Located in the corner of the base of main staircase, a live D.J. booth played in the background. On the opposite side of the staircase, were many tables lined up with all sorts of appetizers and drinks. Towards the end of the, never ending, tables had a big decorated cake with piles of presents surrounding it. As for the rest of the decorations and layout of the party surrounding for the Birthday Boy and his guests, magnificent came to Misty's mind. But undeniably she thought it was a little too fancy for Ash's taste. A giggle escaped when she saw Mrs. Oak-Ketchum's ecstatic movement towards Professor Oak in between greetings. Mrs. Oak-Ketchum is the dotting type and go overboard for her son.

Continuing on her 'People Watching', she spotted Todd A.K.A. Snap taking pictures, Brock dancing with his girlfriend, Susie, amongst a large group of unfamiliar faces on the marble dance floor. Her eyes soon fell upon Tracey and Richie, who seems to be in a depth conversation with Professor Oak's granddaughter, May, and her date. Not too far off, she spotted Ash's old Hoenn traveling companions, May and Max at a table eating. Drifting her gaze at the many familiar and unacquainted faces, she didn't find the one person she wanted to see the most.

'Don't tell me he's not here yet—' Misty train of thoughts was interrupted by a loud 'thud' that came from the balcony's entrance doors. Curiosity got the best of her, as she turned around to see what the cause of the commotion.

"Gary, I can't believe you! You're such a pig!" A tall, model like, blond yelled at Gary when she walked through the doors. Quickly grabbing a glass of water off of a nearby table, she splashed it in Gary's face. "You, sleaze-bag! Don't you ever call me again! If you get lonely, just go call my friend and make out with her like you just did moments ago!" The blond slammed down the glass on the table and left the party.

Gary didn't take a second look in the direction that his date left, as he wiped underneath his chin. A grunt escaped when he felt the water droplets started soaking into his charcoal-gray, button up shirt; that went with his black pants. "Damn, that sucks. I can't believ—" Gary stopped mumbling to himself when he saw a blue handkerchief out the corner of his eye.

"Finally cooled down there, Oak?" Misty asked mockingly. "Here, take it."

"Water was definitely cold as ice. So I would say I'm pretty much cooled down, Waterflower." Gary replied with a sleazy smirk and took Misty's handkerchief for his using.

"You got to quit that habit of yours." Misty said scornfully with her arms crossed.

"What? Looking so good?" Gary smiled and rubbing his wet hair with the handkerchief. He then tucks one of the corners of handkerchief into his back pocket to 'air dry'.

"Yeah that's the reason, because if you don't quit looking so good…" Misty suddenly looked away and nervously fiddled with her purse. "…I might fall for you, Oak."

Gary took a step closer to Misty; only inches away from her face, as he gave her a questioning stare. "Are you serious, Waterflower?"

"No I am not serious!" Misty pushed Gary away from her. "Come on, we've been friends for quite some years now and I know how you roll. Anyways," Misty sassily placed her hands on her hips. "I meant what I said earlier. You should quit being such a player. You are representing the Oak's name."

"Whatever, like you really care for the Oak's name. You only care because it might damage Ash's reputation, am I right?" Gary asked and received no reply. And upon seeing the dumbfounded look, he knew he was correct and chuckled.

Misty turned away all mad heading back over towards the railing. "So what if you're right, you damn-know-it-all..." Misty mumbled quietly, as she took a deep breath and turned around to see Gary right next to her. "But it's not only that reason. I'm more concern towards Professor Oak and your sister. They're your family and their reputations are also at sakes, you know?"

"Ugggh, I get the point! You don't have to lecture me with that mom tone!" Gary snarled and looked down at his grandpa and sister. The two stood in silences for a good minute before he finally looked back at Misty. "So where's Ashy-Boy? I haven't seen him since gramp's and Mrs. K's wedding event. What's that dorky loser been up to?" Gary joshed around.

"I don't know. I'm wondering the same myself." Misty said quietly and sadly looked away.

"You got it bad for him, don't you? You should have told him that liked him or something at the wedding."

"Whatever Oak, what makes you think that I like or got it bad for Ash?" Misty tried to deny the fact. Because giving Gary the satisfaction of being right, again, wasn't her ideal agenda.

"There's no need for denial. I clearly saw you look straight at Ashy-Boy when you caught the flower bouquet. Besides, it's written all over your face."

"So you caught me. The Great Oak finally cracked the truth down on the Tough Waterflower. Do you want a metal or something?" Misty asked annoyingly.

"Naaah, just having the satisfaction of knowing that I'm right, again, is good enough." Gary smiled and saw a pair of rolled eyes. "Kidding. But all jokes aside, I think you should let him know how you feel about him."

Misty raised an eyebrow at Gary. "And whhhy is that I'm getting relationship advice from you?"

"It's not really advice. It's more of a concern of mine and how I think you put yourself out of that painful misery."

"So you do have a civilize side." Misty joked and got a nasty glare. "I know, I went too far on that comment. But honestly speaking, what if he doesn't feel the same? I don't want to get rejected," A long sigh escaped. "Ugh, I've already gone this long not telling him, so another year or two won't hurt."

"Even if you keep telling yourself that, it's not going to change the fact you're still hurting. Just confess already. I have a feeling that he might feel the same way. He can be dense but not that dense. At least I don't think?" Gary asked in joking manner to cheer Misty up. Even though he got Misty to smile a bit, he knew she was still troubled. "Hey, want to dance? You know, to get your mind off of things? And besides, my date is gone and this guy," Gary cheesy pointed at himself with a grin. "Can't be seen dateless."

"Don't you mean dates-less, Oak?" Misty couldn't help but to correct Gary. And amusingly, that did the trick and made her smile.

"Touché. Heh, finally a smile, now let's go down there and dance, shall we?" Gary pretty much stated and took Misty by her hand, leading her down the staircase.

Gary had requested the D.J. to play a certain style of song when he and Misty were in the center of the dance floor. The moment the soft melody played, Gary offered his right hand in front of Misty. Politely taking a hold of his right hand with her left hand, she placed her right hand on his shoulder, while Gary placed his left hand on her hip. Both smiled at each and slowly gracing the audience with a simple Waltz dance the two learned together awhile back. The only reason why the two knew dancing lessons together was because Gary had lost a bet to his sister. By the time his sister had enrolled the whole family members, Misty was constantly visiting Tracey and he felt she was the most suitable and comfortable to ask to be his dancing partner. Full expectation of some kind of mockery and a harsh rejection, she had accepted his proposal sincerely. And still 'til this very day, he's still unaware that Misty had accepted was because he asked her genuinely; a side she never saw before.

Claps were made when the Waltz dance song ended and a slow song came on. The two took a bow at the audience and baste in the glory; increasing their egos. Gary then looked at Misty asking if she'll like to slow dance. Misty smiled and wrapped her arms around Gary's neck, resting her head on his shoulder. Gary rested his cheek on the side of Misty's head and loosely wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Now wasn't that fun? No one expected our excellent performance. The looks on their faces were priceless, huh?" Gary asked quietly with a chuckle.

"Hehehe, yeaaah," Misty pulled her head off of Gary's shoulder to look at him in the eyes. Faces only inches away from each other, a big smile appeared. "Thanks, Oak."

"Not a problem, Waterflow—" Gary got interrupted by a familiar voice from behind calling out his and Misty's name.

"—May I cut in?" Ash asked with his hand out.

"Ashy-Boy, late as always." Gary said with a big smirk, as he let go a hold of Misty.

"Yeah whatever, Gary." Ash said to Gary but then looked over at Misty with a smile.

"Ash!" Misty yelled out excitedly.

"Sorry to interrupt you two—" Ash was a little thrown off by the hug that Misty gave him.

"Oh you weren't interrupting anything. Oak was keeping me company until whenever you decided to show up. Isn't that right?" Misty asked out loud while letting go of Ash to look over at Gary with a smile.

"Yup and my work here is done. So I bid you two good night." Gary waved and gave Misty a 'you better tell him tonight' look and walked off.

"You look nice in that black dress."

"Thank you, Ash. You don't look too bad yourself either, a t-shirt and jeans, totally fits this party theme, don't you think?" Misty let out a giggle but stopped when she caught the weird expression on Ash's face.

"Sooo is there anything between you and Gary? Because you two were pretty close to each other when slow dancing." Ash asked when wrapping his arms around Misty's waist.

"Just because we were slow dancing doesn't mean there's anything between us. What if I was dancing with Brock or Tracey? Would you have asked the same thing?" Misty asked wrapping her arms around Ash's neck.

"No because Brock has a girlfriend and he's our friend. That goes the same for Tracey." Ash looked at Misty.

"Silly, Oak has his fair shares of girlfriends and we both know how he is. Have you forgotten he's my friend too, thanks to you?"

"Yeah-but, it's still Gar—"

"Just drop it and hold me tightly, Ash." Misty said quietly into Ash's ear when she nuzzled her head on his neck.

"Hah, ok. You win, Mist." Ash tightens his embrace and got lost in his own world with Misty.

Misty stayed next to Ash the whole night as time went by. From mingling with others, to singing the happy birthday song, to opening presents, to more dancing and more eating, Ash had no idea when the party going to end. Been wanting and needing to talk to Misty about an important matter but constantly being interrupted by all his friends and acquaintances, he decided to ditch his own party. The two quietly managed to escape without being notice. Leaving the Oak's mansion and ended up a small park nearby, the two stood underneath a cheery blossom tree.

"Finally, we got some peace and quiet." Ash said.

"Yeah and before you say anything further, here is one of your presents." Misty pulled out a 'Pikachu' lure from her purse and handed it to Ash. "Not much, but I figure when you go fishing you can use this lure that I made."

Ash let out a chuckle "I was wondering if I was ever going to get a present from you. But now there's more than one? I can't wait to see the other one. But thanks for the Pikachu lure, but I wouldn't have mind carrying one of your 'Misty' lures." Ash said with a smirk. That smirk quickly disappeared when Misty pulled him into a kiss, which he responded back.

Misty then pulled away from the kiss and looked into Ash's eyes. "That's your other present. Oak told me to tell you my feelings. I love you Ash. I've been in love with you for gods know for how long. I think about you every day and every time I hear from you, I get butterflies in my stomach and overall you drive me crazy. In a good way. But I never wanted to say anything because I didn't want to get hurt and lose you—"

Ash pulled Misty into a deep hug. "Misty, I love you too. I feel the same way. I was scared of losing what we had. I definitely wanted so much more between us." Ash pulled away and stared into Misty's eyes. "I'll admit something lame. I was going to confess to you tonight only because I got jealous how close you were with Gary."

Misty giggled at Ash. "I love your honesty."

"Well speaking of honesty, do you think we can we do a long distance relationship? You still got to run your gym and I still want to travel the new regions to improve my skills. You know, so I can become the next Pokémon Master."

"Ash, we've been apart for many years now and we still harbored strong feelings for each other. Now were finally aware of each others feeling, I believe we can work it out, don't you think? We'll just have to make more efforts to see each other during holidays and whenever we get the chance."

"I'm willing to give us a go. Let's make this park our meeting spot."

"I wouldn't have it any other way. Now, would you hurry up and officially ask me to be your girlfriend, please?" Misty asked promptly.

"Man, you're still bossy as ever but that's one of the reasons I fell for you," Ash wrapped his arm around Misty and stared into her eyes. "Mist, would you be my girlfriend?"

"Umm, let me think about it." Misty stated jokingly, but answered 'yes' before going in for a kiss.

She said "Some days I feel like shit,
Some days I wanna quit, and just be normal for a bit,"
I don't understand why you have to always be gone,
I get along but the trips always feel so long,
And, I find myself tryna stay by the phone,
'Cause your voice always helps me when I feel so alone,
But I feel like an idiot, workin' my day around the call,
But when I pick up I don't have much to say,
So, I want you to know it's a little fucked up,
That I'm stuck here waitin', at times debatin',
Tellin' you that I've had it with you and your career,
Me and the rest of the family here singing "Where'd you go?"

A Little Over A Year Passed By - Ages: Ash & Gary-19 & Misty-18

** Inside of Cerulean City Gym **

Misty ended her last battle in a flash with her Gyrados. Poor kid had no chance. The fact she was running behind schedule, she was ruthless to the last minute challenger. And what she was behind on was her expected phone call from Ash. There wasn't an official time given when he planned to call, it was more of an hour 'window' when he'll call. Misty freaked when she heard the video phone ring going off when she entered back into her house. Not sure what call or ring it was or if it was even Ash, she dashed to the phone like her life depends on it.

"Hello, Waterflower's residence, Misty speaking." Misty looked at the video to see Ash popped up on the screen.

"Hi Mist, guess who?!" Ash yelled out making silly faces with Pikachu on his shoulder. "I miss you."

"You dork, I miss you too," Misty blew a kiss at Ash and waved at Pikachu. "Hi Pikachu, are you keeping your master out of trouble?" Misty asked Pikachu as he just cheered. "Hahaha, so how are you Ash?"

"Oh I'm alright, I got another badge." Ash showed Misty his newest badge.

"Congrats, Ash." Misty said tiredly.

"You ok, Mist?" Ash asked with a worry expression.

"I'm alright, just a little tired from my battles today. And I ran to the phone like no tomorrow. But gaaawd, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait for my sisters to come back tomorrow. I'm getting sick of battling these little squirts day after day. I see why sometime my sisters just hand out the badges like its Halloween candy." Misty started laughing because of Ash's chuckles. "You know, sometime I just want to quit being a gym leader and do something different then battling at the gym. But I just don't know what." Misty let out a sigh, as it was very much needed. Getting that out of her system, she quickly changed the subject. "What I really want is to see you in person. So when can we meet up at our park?"

"Well I'm not sure. It looks like the boat I'm supposed to take isn't leaving for a while due to the weather down here. So I'll be in this town for a bit longer than expected. So I'll keep you posted?"

"Seem I have no other choice to wait again. Damn weather. But whatever, it just means when we see each other, it'll be extra magical." Misty smiled at Ash.

"Yes indeed," Ash turned away from the screen when some guy called out for his name. A nod was exchanged and he looked back at the screen. "Sorry Mist, I got to cut this call short. I told a guy that I'll help him on his Pokémon store move. So I'll call again tomorrow around the same time frame. Love you, bye!" Ash waved at the video phone to Misty.

"I love you too, bye-bye." Misty said before Ash hung up the video phone. About to step away, the phone rang and when she answered it, Tracey appeared on the screen. "Tracey! It's been awhile, how are you doing?"

"Eh, can't complain too much, just working overtime with Professor Oak. Anyways, I'm calling to let you know Marill gave birth a while ago and her Azurill is done being studied by the Oak's. So I want to give you Azurill if you want it? He's adorably cute that you will love him to death."

"Are you serious? An Azurill? Thanks, Tracey!"

"Not a problem but you'll have to come by and pick up Azurill."

"Fine by me, I'll be there later on today if that works out with your schedule?"

"Works with me, so I'll see you later!" Tracey saluted.

"See you than!" Misty waved and hung up.

** Later on in the Evening – At the Oak's Laboratory **

Misty excitedly took Azurill into her arms and welcomes her new blue, cutie to her family addition. After thanking Tracey the two met up with Professor Oak and Mrs. Oak-Ketchum. Upon hearing their conversation about the lack of staff members, Misty took this news as a blessing in disguise to do something new. Offering her assistant, Professor Oak couldn't refuse and knowing that she'll be a good addition to the team, he offered her a full time position if she wanted. She accepted, how hard is it really on filling out Pokémon data files, being a Pokémon caretaker and whatever is needed in the laboratory.

Mrs. Oak-Ketchum offered Misty free boarding at the mansion but the offer got refused. She felt awkward on staying for free when clearly she is going to get paid for her position. But really, she wanted to be independent. And there happen to be a little cute house with a pond, for rent, nearby the Oak's mansion that had caught her eyes. But the one thing she didn't refuse was Mrs. Oak-Ketchum offer to spend the night.

** 11:15 P.M. - Second Floor in One of the Guest Rooms **

Misty stepped out of the shower and wrapped herself with a towel. With Azurill in the big sink; full of water, she let out a smile when pulling Azurill out to dry him. The two stepped out into the bedroom to notice that the guest bedroom door was left slightly opened. Before Misty could shut the door, Azurill had run out the bedroom, leaving her to chase after him.

"Azurill, come back. Where are you going?" Misty quietly yelled out, holding onto her towel. Slowly inching towards Azurill and about snatch him into her arms, he had disappeared in the room he was staring at. With the lights on in the room, she wonder who it was and what got Azruill cheering so happily. On a mission to get her Pokémon back it didn't stop her from entering the room. "Azurill, you are in so much troub—" To Misty surprise, the room was no other than Gary's.

Gary; only in a pair of boxer, with Azurill sitting in the palms of his hand, he turned his head towards Misty. Within a second a big grin appeared. "My, my, Waterflower, it's been awhile since I last seen you. Aren't you showing a little too much skin for this visit? Not that I'm really complaining at what I'm seeing." Gary said, as his eyes looked up and down at Misty's figure. "Sexy and wet, just the way I like it."

Misty gave Gary an annoyed glare when she crossed her arms. "Whatever, Oak. I'm more covered compared to all those other times you've seen me in my bikinis. And must you really have to joke around about this situation? So, can I have Azurill back?" Misty asked and reached out for Azurill but was suddenly pulled in by Gary when he let go of Azurill.

Ignoring the messy body collision, Gary stared down at Misty "Who said that I was joking around? I do like my girls sexy," Gary than ran his fingertips through Misty's wet hair. "And wet. Which I'll let you, defined the meaning of that." Gary said in a seductive tone.

Misty shockingly pulled away from Gary's grip and slapped him hard on his arm. "Oak! If you pull that kind of stunt again I am going to kick you where it hurts the most next time! My gawd, I can't believe you!" Misty wanted to continue yelling at Gary, but thanks to his sudden outburst caused her much confusion at the situation.

"Oh my, the reaction on your face was priceless, Waterflower! You should have seen it!" Gary walked away; still chuckling, towards his bed where Azurill's at. "But seriously, did you honestly think I would really make a move on you when I clearly know you're going out with Ashy-Boy?"

"Well with your reputation on the line, it's kind of hard not to. Gaaawd, I can't believe that I believed you for a bit." Misty said in an annoyed tone, as she crossed her arms looking at Gary from a far.

"Hahaha, I know and that's what made it so awesome. And for your information I've changed, a bit." Gary said, as he heard Misty let out a loud 'hah'. "Hey now, I'm not as bad as before. I guess what you said made an impact. Anyways, I heard that you'll be working here, welcome aboard. We'll be seeing a lot of each other because you'll be working in my section." Gary smiled at Misty and then looked back at Azurill. "I guess I won't be missing you as much." Gary petted Azurill on the head, as a coo escaped.

"What do you mean by that?" Misty asked, making herself comfortable at the edge of Gary's bed.

"Oh, since Marill gave birth to this little Azurill, it was one of the newest Pokémon at the lab and I decided to do the research and study on him. Somewhere along the way, we became attached to each other. And sometimes I would take Azurill up into my room on my free time to play around."

"So that explained why Azurill ran into your room when he ran out of mine." Misty picked up Azurill and nuzzled him to death. "But you sure picked the worst time to run out on me."

"Oooh now you're being all modest all of a sudden?" Gary asked jokingly.

"Oh whatever, I'm just lucky that it was you." Misty got off of Gary's bed with Azurill in her arms and walked towards the door. "Say nighty-night Azurill."

"Hey, what did you mean by that?"

"It just means I'm comfortable and I can let my guard down around you. Anyways, niiight, Oak."

"Night, Waterflower." Gary saw Misty's smile before she shut the door. Falling back onto his bed, he stared at the ceiling intensely. 'It's going to be interesting to work with you isn't it, Waterflower?'

** Five Days Later – In the Morning at the Waterflower's Residence **

"Gawd, this is so messed up Ash!" Misty yelled at Ash on the video phone screen.

"I said I was sorry! This is the only clear time the boat can take me to the next city for my badge challenge. The boat captain said it's now or never because the port will be closed for a while because of the upcoming weather reports."

"I know, I know! I'm sorry. I'm just upset because this is the same scenario cancellation to our supposedly last date. I just really want to see you in person."

"I know, I'm sorry for putting you through this."

"Whatever, it's how it is. I need to be more patience."

Ash let out a chuckle at the screen. "Do you even know what the word patience means?"

"Ha-Ha, very funny." Misty rolled her eyes but a smile still appeared.

"It was funny for me. Anyways, how's the new job treating you? And how goes your moving coming along into that cute little house?"

"Not too bad, it's definitely a change of pace but I'm enjoying it. And I have to say, Gary is a total different person when he's in working mode. He's like, dare I say it? Almost like, a professor. But don't you ever let him know that I said that. I don't want his ego to grow any bigger than it already is."

"Mist, you don't have to worry about that. I'm not wasting my valuable phone call time to talk to him. But you're right; he's something else isn't he? The day he told me that he had given up on wanting to become a Pokémon Master and become a Researcher instead, I had this strange feeling that he'll do fine and become a whole different person—" Ash stopped when he heard an alarm going off on Misty's side.

"Sorry Ash. That was my alarm that I need to get going. Tracey is going to be here soon to help me move the remaining of my stuff. So I guess this is good-bye?" Misty asked gloomily.

"Unfortunately it is good-bye. I don't know when I'll be able to call again, but I'll call the Oak's residences first ok?"

"Ok, sounds like a plan."

"I love you, Mist." Ash said forming a heart with his hands.

Misty smiled widely and blew a kiss at the screen. "I love you too. Until next time."

I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone.
Where'd you go?
I miss you so,
Seems like it's been forever,
That you've been gone,
Please come back home...

About Another Year Went By - Ages: Ash & Gary - 20 & Misty – 19

** Ash's Congratulation Party of Becoming the Next Pokémon Master - In the Backyard of the Oak's Mansion **

Once again playing the same old scene, Misty walked through the backdoor on the stone balcony. This time in a short sparkly red spaghetti strap dress with Azurill in her arms. Making her way over to the railings and setting Azurill on the rail, Misty looked down at party. The party set up was a lot bigger than Ash's 18th birthday party, as the marble dance floor increased in size, more tables and food and drinks. And of course, alongside a live D.J. still in the corner. Old habits are hard to get rid of, as Misty scanned the party from the balcony to see who she can spot out. With the same scenario like last time, she smiled and rested her chin in left palm.

'Wow, Ash met a lot of new people over the year. So many new faces, I'm surprised I was able to spot the ones I knew. And of course, you're late to your own party again—'

Misty's thoughts were broken when she heard Azurill started squealing happily. Turning around, a smile appeared on her face. There stood Gary behind her smiling in a purple button up shirt, over a pair of black slacks.

"Doesn't this feel like Déjà vu, Waterflower?" Gary asked Misty, as he joined next to her leaning up against the railing.

"Why yes indeed, Oak. But this time wouldn't you agree the atmosphere this time is a lot better than the last party?" Misty smiled at Gary.

"I totally agree. And look, no wet face this time!" Gary joked sportingly. He then looked down at the party and searched for a certain raven haired friend. "So Ashy-boy late again?"

"Oh you know it. You know how he likes to show up fashionably late. If he showed up on time that wouldn't be Ash now would he?" Misty said jokingly.

"So true!" Gary laughed out loud but when the laughter died down, he gave Misty a serious look. "Hey, I'm sorry about yelling at you the other day in the lab."

"Oh Oak, it's alright. It was kind of my fault provoking you while you were working too. It's been days now and I've already forgotten about it. But since you brought it up, what were you so upset about?" Misty asked with a raised brow.

"Err—Well—I was upset because I got chewed out by my gramps. Well, I kind of asked for it," Gary looked away from Misty's stare and stared straight ahead. "I've been leaving the lab with unfinished project files to attend a friend in need."

"Aww', that is so sweet of you. That friend must be very grateful and thankful of your support."

"Yeah, she is. But at the moment, I guess she doesn't realize it." Gary let out a pathetic chuckle and looked down at Azurill, petting his head. "Wouldn't you agree, Azurill?"

"Why are you asking Azurill? It's not like he's been with you when you go see your friend." Misty said and waited for answer.

"Heh, you'll be surprised by that, Waterflower."

"Fine, you don't have to tell me. I know how you are when you don't want to tell others something. Which means, jumping into the next topic, no date or dates for tonight, Oak?"

"Heh, yeaaah. Tonight Gary Oak is flying solo. I've been too busy with work to even brother with chicks right now. Besides dealing with you is a hand full at work." Gary said jokingly but caught Misty's glare. "Hey, I'm kidding. Joking aside, I don't mind having you around at all. Work has been more enjoyable and interesting than ever."

"Hah, ok, whatever you say. If you think us bickering at each other every other day is fun, then you have been working too much in that lab."

"Hey now, we do have fun the other times don't we?" Gary asked when he looked at Misty; who gave him a nod. "Then let's have some fun now. Let's go down there and take over the dance floor like last time. With that number you're wearing, I say we do a little salsa?" Gary asked and held out his hand for Misty to grab on to.

"Sure let's shake up the dance floor like last time." Misty took Gary's hand and grabbed Azurill with her other arm.

Misty and Gary split up on opposite ends when they reached the dance floor, as Gary went over to the D.J. to request a 'salsa' beat song and Misty had went over to the water fountain to place Azurill in it. This time around the D.J. made an announcement that Gary and Misty would be preforming a salsa number and everyone could clear the dance floor. When the music started Gary and Misty took each other hands and Gary made the first move by stepping forward with his right foot, as Misty had stepped back with her left foot in unison back and forth for several movements. Steaming up the dance floor with their close body contact, Misty was lost in the dance and music to pay any attention to the crowd and what had caught Gary's attention.

Gary let out a smirk and whispered to Misty that he's going to swing and let go of her to his right. Assuming it's a hint to do solo dances; Misty just nodded and prepared herself for the spin. Once she felt Gary had let her go, she kept her balance while spinning in circles. Before she could continue on with her solo dance moves, she felt a pair of arms wrapped around her waist. Confusion took over when she saw Gary waved and walked off the dance floor, as she turned her head to see her boyfriend behind her.

Other than slow dancing, Ash could not dance to save his life. So he did the best thing he could to please the crowd, after had seen a splendid salsa performance with Gary. He spun Misty around and firmly grabbed a hold of her and dipped her downwards and planted a deep kiss. Like the one you see in the movies where the solider that came back from the war to meet up with his girlfriend. After positioning his girlfriend back onto her feet, the crowd cheered and did a mad rush towards Ash. With the commotion of congratulating him by shaking his hand or patting him on the back, Ash got separated from Misty.

Misty clearly knew she had no chance to fight against the crowd and if she ever wanted to see Ash again, she had to take herself out of the madness. Leaving the dance floor to make her way towards the water fountain, she saw Gary sitting at rim of water fountain next to Azurill. And the look he gave her, she just wanted to smack him silly.

"Holy shit! You made it out there alive, Waterflower!" Gary could no longer hold in his laughter and let it all out.

"Ha-Ha very funny, Oak! I'm glad to see that I, almost being moshed to death, brought you some laughter. Now, wipe that silly expression of your away or I'll do it for you." Misty commanded and took a seat next to him.

"Sorry, hahaha, from my point of view, it was hilarious. Anyways, were you surprised? You know, being thrown at Ash in the middle of our dance performance."

"Oh my, that was a big surprise! I thought we were going to do our solo moves. But gosh, I kind of wish we were able to finished our full performance. It's not like every day we get to show off these kinds of dance moves."

"You know, I wished we were able too. But we both know you enjoyed the ending that you got. Well, minus the almost being moshed to death part."

"Hahaha, yeaaah. Like, anyways, our dancing together was like, totally fun!" Even though she mimicked her sisters' valley girl accent, she meant it. An inside joke she formed with Gary on showing her excitement towards something. Don't know when she started that habit but it just happened. While Gary shook his head with a smile, she returns one as well with a giggle. "—You know, we need to learn how to say no to your sister, especially when it comes to taking all these new dance lessons."

"Good luck with that. Although, the second you find a way to be able to say no to my sister, please do tell me." Gary chuckled and realized something. "I love how it's a, we, thing now. Who knew we ended up being such close friends like this."

"I know right? I use to hate your guts with a passion! To the point I wanted to stab you in the eye with a needle every time I saw you."

"Wow, talk about being brutally honest. Geez, if that was just by briefly seeing me back then, I don't even want to know what you would have done if I had actually pissed you off personally."

Misty laughed and playfully hit Gary in the arm. "Can you really blame me? You were such a douche towards Ash! But in the end, every action we do leads to something right? Besides, I love what we have going on, your friendship means a lot to me. I wouldn't trade it for a legendary Pokémon if given the chance to—" Misty quickly looked over in the direction she heard Ash calling her name.

"—I'm sorry about that! I didn't expect all those people to bum-rush me like that."

"Well that's what kind of happens when you're late and everybody is expecting you, Ashy-boy." Gary commented out loud to Ash, as he got up from his seat and held out his hand. "Congrats."

Ash smiled and shook Gary's hand. "Thanks, Gary. But not to be rude, I'm going to steal my girlfriend back, so we could spend time together."

"Sure thing, Ashy-boy. But just give me a minute or two with her before you take her away." Gary sat back down and leaned in towards Misty's ear. "I'm going to be a super-awesome friend and take Azurill for the next few days. You two are in much needed uninterrupted time, if you know what I mean." Gary playfully nudged Misty and grabbed Azurill and started walking away. "Bye, Waterflower and Ashy-Boy, I won't be smellin' ya' later!"

"Uh, bye?" Ash confusingly waved at Gary but quickly return his attention to Misty. "What did he say to you?"

"Err, well he said that he was going to take Azurill for the next few days. So that you and I can have some uninterrupted alone time, if you caught the gist of that."

"Seriously why did he have to take it that level? Did he have to bring sex into the conversation?"

Misty couldn't help but laugh at Ash's baffled expression. "Ash, we're all adults now. It's clear as daylight you and I aren't the innocent kids we were back then. Hell, even your mom knows we've already done it."

"Ugh true, but when it comes to Gary, it's just awkward?"

"Umm in that case, I have a confession to make. Gary knows quite a bit about us? Like, a lot now that I think about it. From fights, to dates, to us being intimate and such." Misty said nervously but trying to be as cute as ever.

"What? Why and how?"

"Hahah, sooorry! Gary and I became very close friends over the year and I needed advice from time to time."

"Couldn't you ask one of your girl friends? Did it have to be Gary?"

Misty gave Ash a harsh look. "What girl friends? Have you forgotten I traveled with boys most of the beginning of my life? And then, my social-life dropped to one percent when I took over the gym. So if you can show me this girl friend of mine that I can talk to, I'll stop talking to Gary about us."

"Ok, you won this battle."

"Damn skippy that I did." Misty smirked feeling victorious.

"Ok, so not to sound like a jealous boyfriend or anything, but what's with the salsa dancing? How did you two ended up taking salsa? That's way too close of a body contact kind of dance."

"You're so adorably cute when you're jealous, you know that?" Misty giggled and rested her head against Ash's shoulder. "It was May's idea again to take dancing lessons and we couldn't say no to her. Besides you would obviously be my number one choice. Other than that, Gary, just ended up being one of the few guys I'm really comfortable with and can trust. You know how he is."

"Heh, yeah." Ash then got up onto his feet and held out his hand. "Now before we ditch this party to head to our park, would you be my wonderful girlfriend and greet everybody with me?"

"Of course I will." Misty grabbed Ash's hand and onto her feet. "I need to stand my grounds and let all these unfamiliar faces that we're an item and that none of these bitches can take you away from me."

"Hahaha, I think they got the hint when I kissed you on the dance floor."

"You know what I mean, silly!" Misty then wrapped her arm around Ash's arm. "Since we don't get to do this often, let's be an extreme lovely-dovey couple in front of everyone to the point they want to puke."

"God, I love you." Ash said with a big smile.

** Later that Night at the 'Park' **

"That was so much fun! Gosh, I don't remember the last time I had this much fun. I guess it's true that things are much better with your love one. Don't you agree, Ash?" Misty asked but became uneasy when she saw the solemn stare she got from Ash.

"We need to talk. It's about my time and duties of a Pokémon Master. Please take a seat, Misty." Ash directed her to the nearby bench.

"Umm, ok." Misty slowly took a seat and avoided Ash's stare by looking straight ahead at the ocean view. She knew it's a serious talk because he didn't address her by her nickname.

"You know that I love you dearly and want to be with you always. But I can't give you the world, at least just not yet. We barely get to see each as is when I was on the road. And with me finally becoming the Pokémon Master, it's a whole new playing field. I honestly don't know how much I can visit or how often I can call. I hate seeing or even knowing the fact you are hurting because of me. So I think it might be best for us to take a break?"

Misty finally looked at Ash. "What is a break going to do? If you think a break will stop me from being hurt, than you got it all wrong. The pain of not being able to be your other half is by far worse compared being miles away in a relationship." Grabbing a hold of his left hand, Misty gave it a light squeeze. "I know I'm asking a lot and not making it any easier for you, but this is me we're talking about. I'm as stubborn as a mule and I'm just tired of sharing you. I just want you all to myself."

"I know. But there's a saying, if someone makes you miserable more than they make you happy, it doesn't matter how much you love them, you need to let them go. And I think by doing so you might find someone who can give you the world."

"There isn't anyone out there that I want to be with, Ash. There's also a saying, if you love someone, never leave them for someone else. Hold them tight, do whatever it takes and believe in your love. True love is rare to find, hold on and never let it go. And like it or not Ash, I'm sticking to that saying."

A sigh of defeat escaped Ash' mouth, as he pulled Misty into a hug. He knew he wasn't going to win this war. "You win. You always know how to counter my arguments. I'm sorry that I brought up a touchy subject."

"It's ok. I know you were just trying to find the best solution for us. Now, can we put this behind us and enjoy what time I have left before you leave?"

"Already forgotten and for the next seven days, your wishes are my commands. I am all yours."

"Seven days? Well than, we need to pay Gary a visit tomorrow."

"And why is that?"

"I need him to approve a week's worth of vacation time on this very short notice. Plus we thought you were only going to be here for a few days. So I have to convince him to baby sit Aruzill a bit longer." Misty let out a mischievous smile.

"Ok. Should I be scared with that smile of yours?" Ash asked fearfully.

"Maaaybe. Let's just say we got a lot of catching up to do and by the seventh day, you'll be mentally and physically worn out."

"Alright, challenge accepted."

You know the place where you used to live,
Used to barbeque up burgers and ribs,
Used to have a little party every Halloween with candy by the pile,
But now, you only stop by every once in a while,
Shit, I find myself just fillin' my time,
Doin' anything to keep the thought of you from my mind,
I'm doin' fine, and I'm plannin' to keep it that way,
You can call me if you find you have somethin' to say,
And I'll tell you, I want you to know it's a little fucked up,
That I'm stuck here waitin', at times debatin',
Tellin' you that I've had it with you and your career,
Me and the rest of the family here singing "Where'd you go?"

Sometime After Ash's First Year of Being the Pokémon Master - Ages: Ash, Gary & Misty – 21

** Inside of Misty's House **

Misty blankly stared down at the table for two she had set up an hour ago for a special birthday dinner. Ash had cancelled again and had to reschedule another date to visit. All thanks to a pile of paper works with the league before his flight back home. The oven timer went off and snapped Misty out from her mindless state, as she quickly pulled out the main course from the oven. Placing the big pan of homemade lasagna; that meant to be for tonight's dinner and as tomorrow's leftovers, onto the stove counter top, a sad and pathetic like sigh escaped. She wasn't sure how she was going to finish all the food she had cooked and throwing away was out of the question. So the only solution she came up with was to invite another. Tracey came to mind since she and he haven't spent any quality time together as of lately. And with that set, she quickly went to her non-video phone and dialed the Oak's phone number.

"Oak's residence, this is Gary speaking." Gary said on one of the non-video phones.

Even though she had called for Tracey, hearing Gary's voice just brought a smile to her face. "Heeey there, Oak!"

"What's up, Waterflower?"

"Like, duuuh, the ceiling!" Misty replied and naturally looked up at her ceiling.

"Oh what a jokester you are." Gary said in a monotone.

"Yeah-yeah. Anyways, is Tracey there?"

"He is, but he's a bit occupied with a research project right now. I can take a message if you'll like?"

"Naaah, it's alright. I just wanted to know if Tracey was free tonight. Thanks though, I'll see you two days from now. Bye-bye."

"No problem and I'll see you later. Oh wait!"

"Yeah?"

"Happy birthday, Waterflower." Gary said and was about to hang up but stopped when Misty quickly called out his surname.

"—If you're not busy, would you like to come over and have dinner with me? I made dinner for two but it ended up being for one." Misty said in a firm tone to hide her sadness.

It was painfully obvious to Gary that Ash had cancelled on their dinner plan, again. Even though he needed to refuse the offer in order to finish his project, he couldn't do it. There was no way he was going to let any girl eat alone on her birthday, let alone a good friend. Accepting Misty's invite, he told her he'll be over as soon as possible.

Gary made his way inside Misty's house with a box full of alcoholic beverages. Placing the box on the kitchen counter, he started to unpacked all the liquor, which caused Misty to raise her brow.

"Umm Oak, what's with all the alcohol drinks?"

"Well Waterflower, seeing how it's that today is your 21st birthday; I say we have a little fun tonight?" Gary smiled and grabbed a bunch of glasses out from the cupboard.

"I wasn't planning on drinking on my birthday."

"Suit yourself, birthday girl. I guess I'll be drinking solo tonight. Anyways, I'm hungry." Gary said, as he grabbed a bottle of champagne and took a seat at the table.

As the night went by, Misty ended up trying all the different alcohol drinks that Gary had brought. Even though she didn't do any full drinks, she still ended up being drunk as skunk; the pros and cons of being a light weight. Gary on the other hand was just buzzed. And thanks to the effects of alcohol, Misty could not stop talking. Comfy on her couch with Gary next to her, the two talked; and yelled, each other ears off. However the blissful atmosphere instantly turned sour when Gary had accidentally mention Ash's name. Upon seeing the sulking expression on Misty's face, all he could do was apologize.

"Don't be sorry! He should be the sorry one! He couldn't make it to my birthday again. Needless to say, he didn't even wish me a Happy Birthday either. Buuut whaaatever! It doesn't matter, because I have you here, Oak. Thank you, thank you." Misty said in a sloppy tone, as she lightly pinched both of Gary's cheeks moving his face side to side.

"You're welcome. You know that I'm always here for you. Come on, let's think of something else to talk about to keep your mind off of Ash—" Gary stopped in mid-sentence when Misty suddenly straddled his lap. He became more uneasy with the situation when Misty cupped his cheeks.

"You're so good to me," Misty let go of Gary's cheeks and wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her cheek against his. "Like tonight, you came here to keep me company and to cheer me up. And I must say, you like, totally did a suuuperb job." Misty then pulled away and looked straight into his eyes. "Gawd, why couldn't I have fallen for you, Oak?" Misty asked, slowly leaning in towards Gary's lip. But before her lips could connect onto Gary's, he had turned his head to the side and slowly pulled her arms off around his neck.

"Ok, Waterflower. I think the alcohol has gotten way deep to your head. So it's time for me to put you to bed and head out before anything else could happen that you'll regret." Gary said, as he caught the disappointed look. But that didn't stop him from guiding Misty off his lap and placing her back to her original spot.

"Please don't go, Oak." Misty pleaded by grabbing a hold at the bottom of Gary's shirt, when he got up. "I don't want to be alone tonight. If you stay, I promise I won't do anything funny to you?"

'Isn't that supposed to be my line or something?' Gary couldn't help but to ask himself, since the 'old him' always used that line on the ladies. He then took a deep breath and grabbed a hold of Misty's hand. "I don't know if it'll be a good idea."

"Please, Oak?" Misty gave Gary a pouting face.

"I need to learn how to say no. Fine, but I'll be sitting in a chair next to your bed until you fall asleep and that's all." Gary helped Misty up off the couch and decided to carry her to her bedroom; with Azurill following close behind. After placing her onto her bed, he grabbed a chair and sat in it.

"Oak, can I ask you a question?" Misty asked while getting underneath the covers.

"Sure, what is it, Waterflower?"

"If you were the Pokémon Master right now and in a relationship and you two haven't seen each other for like six months. Wouldn't you try your hardest to at least see that person, at least once?"

"If that's my scenario, I say I would. Even if it's only for an hour on my one and only day off." Gary bluntly replied.

"Why can't he be like you then?" Misty mumbled under her breath, while hugging the blanket and her knee at her chest.

"Hey, don't be like that. You and Ash have been in love with each other for god who knows how long and you guys been able to continue your guys' long distance for about like what, three or four years now? Don't tell me you're going to throw in the towel?" Gary asked trying to look at Misty's face.

"I don't know anymore, maybe I'm being wishy-washy. I want to see him, hold him, spend time with him and I want him to be able to do the same thing for me. But I can't have that, can't I?" Misty said quietly, as she rubbed her eyes to get rid of the tears.

Gary got out of the chair and wrapped his arms around Misty. "It's going to be ok. Where's that strong and loud Waterflower that I know when times get rough?" Gary tried to cheer Misty, as she just let out a weak, forced smile. "Now how about we stop talking and you get to sleeping? It's getting late." Gary said, as Misty just nodded. He then returned to his chair while Misty got herself comfortable in her bed.

"Hey Oak, I know that you said no more request but could you hold my hand? That way I don't feel like, I'm alone?" Misty asked, as she held out her right hand from underneath the blanket.

"Sure thing, Waterflower." Gary grabbed a hold of Misty's hand.

While closing her eyes, Misty dragged out her sentence unconsciously in her state of mind of sleep "—I'm glad to have a good friend—No—A best friend like you, to come at my every need. Thank yooou, Oak." Misty tightens her hold on Gary's hand and drifted into a slumber.

Gary held on tight to Misty's grip and watched her soundly fast asleep. About ten minutes that went on by, Gary finally let out a frail smile. And still holding her hand, he leaned in towards her face. "Any day, any night, any time, I'll drop everything and come running to you when you need me. Because I think I've fallen for you, Misty." Gary said in a sincere tone and slowly pulled away from Misty and kissed the top of her right hand before letting go and sat back down in his chair. About half an hour later, Gary himself fell asleep, still holding onto Misty's hand.
