Le dĂ©roulement d'une histoire d'amour importe peu. L'important, c'est d'ĂȘtre capable d'aimer - Helen Hayes.

It had been six months and they had fallen into a steady, progressive rhythm. They remained impartial to each other at work, less the few penetrating gazes and sensual smiles that occasionally slipped out, and lived blissful life outside of the lab walls that included moments of gentleness, passion and love. They both viewed their current lives as radical improvements to their previous ones and accredited the change to each other and the now-acknowledged attraction. They were support for each other every day, life lines when the going got tough and companions to laugh with when those silly moments in life occurred. They talked about anything and everything whenever the chance was presented to them.

In the early days there were nights when they would sit on the uncomfortable couch in his townhouse and he would open up to her, which fed her joy beyond belief; just being able to sit there with her in his arms lifted his spirits greatly. Their relationship was everything they had ever dreamed of, the desperation that was exchanged when they kissed, the squeezing of their hearts when they watched the other sleep silently and the constant appreciation of each other's personality and quirks all made it something out of a fairytale. Neither could ask for anything greater than the fulfillment they received from being a couple. They bother grew as a result of the relationship and bettered themselves as people, lovers and soulmates. Like any healthy relationship, they fought, rarely but viciously however it always ended up with a kiss from one to the other and an apology that seemed to magically make the offences vanish. Both thought their lives as perfect as possible and basked in the peacefulness of the entire situation.

Now a velvet, square box sat in the top drawer of his locked filing cabinet in his office, waiting patiently when the moment was right, that single, golden opportunity to ask her to spend the rest of her earthly life with him and to promise to love him for an eternity as he had already privately pledged to do for her. He was sure that this time his mother would approve of the woman that he would bestow his grandmother's ring upon. They were destined for each other and no other two people could ever complement each other in such an utterly exquisite way, of that he was completely sure. Now, he would wait for that moment too open that small box and ask her to marry him; no matter how long he would have to wait, he would continue to love her as she would he and one day she would have his grandmother's diamond on her finger which would make his ultimate fantasy come true.
