a/n ahahahaha! Random Luke/Annabeth ... romance/angst fic. Again. Someone help me.
I didn't see him approaching. I was only fifteen, and in the forest during a capture the flag game when Luke appeared out of thin air next to me. "Holy sh—Luke, don't do that, for the gods' sake!"
"Sorry," he apologized, "but I need to tell you something, and apologize for a few things."
I almost retorted, "Didn't you just?" but decided against it and followed him deeper into the woods. I still remembered, three years ago, when Luke had done the exact same thing and then nearly killed Percy. If he did that to me, I wouldn't trust him. Ever. Again.
Where no one could see us, he finally turned around. "I'm sorry," he said quietly. "Sorry that I've been a traitor. That I tried to kill Percy. That I've been stupid. That I haven't ever seen what makes you Annabeth Chase. But I'm the most sorry that I might forget you after today. But if I do, can you help me remember you with this?"
"With wh—" I broke off as I felt his lips on mine. They were gentler than I could have imagined, since he had nearly killed Percy and me multiple times. We broke apart, and I spoke up almost immediately, ruining the moment. It was my first kiss, ever, and I just had to ruin it, as Annabeth Chase always does. "How come you're twenty-two and I'm fifteen?"
"Because it is…?" Luke's voice trailed off in confusion.
And then I quickly kissed him again, finally letting it linger longer than I thought it should.
I opened my eyes, and Luke was already gone, but my eyes were now as cold as ever. "I'm sorry I ever loved you," I whispered coldly into the darkness, then I ran back to capture the flag, spotting Percy on our side, and dragging him to jail with a grin that gave away nothing of what had just happened.
