Hermione came into the great hall and saw Ron and the other Weasleys crowded around the lifeless body of Fred. She went over to them and stood next to Mrs. Weasley. She watched silently as the Weasleys watched Fred with sad and tear-stained faces. George was very sullen and the next to the saddest was Ron. At first she thought her eyes were playing tricks but Ron had no tears in his eyes, no frown on his face, in the place of those was a quiet lifeless expression that didn't seem to fit on the face.
The Weasleys came out of their reverie and distributed hugs among themselves and without taking or giving any Ron left the group to sit on the chair that Mr. Weasley had just vacated. Charlie started towards him but Mrs. Weasley stopped him, at first he didn't understand. "Charlie you go with Fleur to check on Bill, George you stay here with Fred, I'm going with your father to ask some questions, Ginny…," instead of staying anything she nodded her head toward the door where Harry had appeared, "… Hermione." She nodded towards Ron with a sincere almost broken look in her eyes. Hermione hadn't even thought she had seen her, but bei9ng addressed she did as she was asked, even though she was nervous as all else.
She walked towards Ron and Kneeled in front of him. He didn't look up at her or anything he just stared at the ground wrapped up in his own thoughts. She lifted her hand to his chin and lifted it up until he was looking at her. She gave him a sad smile and he turned his head determined not to look into her eyes, but she didn't let him get away she brought his head back to look at her. "He'll have George's ear to keep him company." He gave a small sad laugh. "You laugh at it even though you were sad?"
"It's not everyday that Miss Hermione Granger makes a joke." She smiled at him. They both knew this was a moment they'd remember, but neither knew this was the moment they would say to every one at their wedding or the one they would tell Rose and Hugo when they asked them how they got together.
