Remember This Luke!
I don't own Gilmore Girls
I have always said that if she could just get him to remember what he was feeling for her the night they first danced, everything would be fixed.
It starts in the middle of their fight.
"I can't just jump like that!"
Lorelai looked absolutely defeated. But she would try one more thing. One last effort to knock this not-Lukeness out of him and remember how much he cared about Lorelai. She grabbed his hand and stormed towards the town square. They were close so it didn't take long.
"Lorelai where are you taking me?" Luke was not in the mood. He didn't understand what was going on with his fiancé, and he wanted to.
"You'll see Luke, just come with me." Was all that she would say. When they got there she marched them to the exact spot that Luke asked her to dance in at Liz's wedding. She could remember word for word what they said that night, and she desperately hoped that Luke did too. "Oh, hey so your food has probably cold, do you want to get some more?"
Luke was thoroughly confused. "What are you talking about Lorelai? We are in the middle of a fight- what are you talking about; food?"
"Luke, just look around…." She begged him desperately to remember. If he could remember what he had been feeling that night when they danced, she was positive that everything would be better.
Luke was still confused, but he looked around, and it hit him. The dance. Their first amazing dance.
Lorelai smiled- she knew that he knew what she was talking about now. So she tried again, "Oh, hey so your food has probably cold, do you want to get some more?"
"Sure, or we could…..you know-"
"We could what?"
"Do you want to dance?" she instantly nodded, and he took her hand and walked her over to where they had danced for the first time.
He pulled her close to him again, just like before. This time he immediately held her tighter. And inwardly Lorelai was begging him to feel what she knew he felt that night. Once again dancing under the stars with Luke was an amazing feeling. Especially after everything that had happened between their last dance and this one. Its like everything got simpler- all over again. Nothing bad had happened between them yet. The slate was wiped clean. Their relationship was new and pure- like what they talked about while playing cards after her bad date. They danced and swirled around and around- and when they looked each other in the eye again, all Luke said was "Wow."
He was in an absolute loss for words. How far off this track had he taken them? A minute later they were sitting on the edge of the rail of the gazebo and he couldn't say more then, "Lorelai- I am so sorry."
