prompt: 24. things you said with clenched fists
Really, she thought, was now the time for that?
She repeated this aloud. "Really, Chat," she said, folding her arms. "Was now the time for that?"
He turned to face her and grinned sheepishly, a sort of Cheshire Cat's grin. His fists were still clenched at his sides, one leg raised onto the ledge of the roof that they were standing on, where he had suddenly set his shoulders and yelled out for the world to hear-
"I - LOVE - LADYBUG!"
It was like a romance film: all of these tiny colourful exploding balls of light in the sky behind and a heroine swooning before him.
Only the fireworks were the weapon of choice for this week's akuma, a stage-lighting technician who had gotten tired of being in the background, and the swooning heroine was really the akuma herself - who had now stopped her attacks and screeches of "everyone should pay attention to me!", and was instead proving to be quite the romantic.
"Kiss him!" The woman called out to Ladybug from the large stadium below and across rows of seats from them, hands clasped girlishly and insistently beneath her chin -
And that was when the blush she had been holding back finally flooded her cheeks.
To their disappointment, Ladybug simply shook her head exasperatedly and gave him a Look: one that said you need to stop doing things like this and we are in the middle of a battle here, but mostly silly, silly Chaton.
She stepped up onto the ledge beside him and flung out a wrist, unspooling the string of her yoyo to catch onto one of the surrounding light poles. Just before she swung off to fight the akuma again, she turned to him and gave the tiniest smile of fond amusement. Her cheeks were still faintly pink.
"You don't have to announce it to the whole world, you know. Just say it to me.
And I love you too."
Then she jumped off of the roof.
Once again overcome with emotion, Chat Noir could only splutter in her wake, and then gathered himself to declare it again and again.
He was answered by the sound of her fluttering laughter.
