I sprinted down the corridor, enveloping myself into the darkness that surrounded me. My chest pained me with every step I took, I could hardly breathe. My muscles ached beyond any pain I had endured. I need to stop, rest, relax myself. But every time those thoughts entered my head, my ears would pick up the faint deadly hum behind me and I could run faster. It terrified me, the thing that slowly glided across the floor steady and slowly. I could run as fast as I want, but it would still be there slowly gaining. I came to a door that seemed to shine as a beacon of hope in the oblivion I had found myself in. I ran in and closed the door behind me with a loud thud! I fell to the floor leaning against the door, my heart hammering a million miles per hour. Sweat poured down me, cooling me and my throat burned. I was trapped inside, there was no other door. There was a sudden silence behind the door, the faint humming gone. The only sound there was, was my slow ragged breathing. My heart quickened, feeling as if it was going to burst out of my chest. BOOM! The door blows off it's hinges taking me with it. I face planted into the floor, hearing my nose break. The door flew to the other side of the room landing in a crumpled heap of splinted wood. Blood poured down my face, into my mouth tasting salty. I turned my head towards where there was once a door. The thing stood there in the doorway, the only light source from the single eye, perched on a stalk. It just stared, no emotion showing. It was a living machine, a creature of pure hatred. I could only watch as the thing pointed a weapon at me, attached to it's own metal body. Then in a voice emotionless as it's stare, it said,

"Exterminate!" A blinding blue light filled the room and then there was nothing.
