A/N. This fic was inspired by the song Next Contestant, by Nickelback.
Flack seethed as he stared at the bar, where Adam was waiting for their drinks. The young man had only been gone from the table for five minutes, and already he'd had half a dozen offers from various men in the club. Don sat still, his hands gripping the table as he watched guy after guy try hitting on his boyfriend. He sat silently as Adam politely declined every advance with his usual smile. Flack hated this. Every time they came out, he felt like he spent all night defending Adam against lustful advances. Women were just as bad; smiling and batting their eyelids at him - offering to show him a good time. Don almost laughed sometimes at how tactless they were. It had been a long time since he'd gotten into a fight over it. When the last man to suggest Adam leave with him ended up with a broken nose, Flack had promised to try and control himself. So that was what he was doing. Sitting at the table, practically crushing the beer bottle in his hand.
All Don's control slipped when he saw another suitor touch Adam's hip as he whispered into the lab tech's ear. Standing quickly, Flack was across the room in a few strides. The man saw him coming; mutiny in his eyes, and immediately stepped back.
"Hey, sorr-" Don walked straight past the man and grabbed Adam's arm. Adam turned with a smile on his face, but his breath caught in his throat at the look in Don's eyes.
"We're leaving." The statement was short, and Adam followed along as Flack all but dragged him out of the bar.
Outside, Adam barely had time to react before Don was pressing him up against a wall and kissing the breath from him. Adam sighed into the kiss; holding on to Flack as the detective pushed harder against him. They parted just as quickly, and Adam smiled dopily up at a still slightly pissed off Don.
"I love it when you do that," Adam whispered.
"Do what?" Flack smirked, running a hand through Adam's hair.
"Get jealous. The way you grab me and kiss me. Like I belong to you."
"You do," Don replied immediately; a softness now in his eyes. "And you'd best not forget it." Adam was still smiling as he ran a hand up Don's arm to his shoulder.
"Take me home and remind me," Adam's voice was soft, and his smirk was clear to see. Flack smiled widely at the invitation and moved away from the wall. Adam got two steps in front of him before he was pulled back and pressed against Don's chest. Adam sank comfortably into the strength behind him, and together they wandered out in search of a cab. The night was still young, and Don had every intention of reminding Adam just who he belonged to.
The End.
