"Are you okay?" The moment when Coco uttered those words into a form of a question, Velvet was surprised. Was she okay? Velvet wasn't sure; it had been a long time.
Unable to give a reply, Velvet could only offer her leader a nervous gaze.
It was just the two of them—alone in a room of four walls, a window, and a door. A thought had suddenly occurred to the Faunus that Coco had purposely positioned herself to block the mere exit. The window was not an ideal option and the boys were surely not returning soon—having to recently gone out.
Velvet already knows that Coco is waiting with great patience, patience that was only for her. She even took off her shades and it allowed Velvet to see what was inside: a concerned lover.
Mustering up her courage, "I'm fine, Coco!" Velvet managed to barely sound confident but Coco didn't seem satisfied, "Are you sure?"
The world had to have turned upside down. It was usual for Coco to back down because she respected Velvet. Supposedly that today was where Coco decides to push her limits by an unstated challenge.
"I'm fine…!" Velvet inwardly frowned at how it was becoming during the second time: weak and unconvincing. It was clear that Coco noticed.
"Are you certain?"
"I'm fine…"
"Are you positive?"
"I-I'm fine…"
Coco stood in front of the trembling Faunus, "Then tell me why you're in tears, Velvet."
"B-because…" The girl choked on her sobs, unable to finish her sentence.
Coco took pity and finally embraced the crying Velvet. "I'm sorry. We both may know what you've gone through but you're the one who suffered through it."
"Then why…?"
"You tend to hold back your tears behind a smile," Coco confessed, "but your body language and eyes don't lie to me. Besides, you need to let it out before you explode; I know I would."
The last statement was meant to be a truthful joke but the Faunus kept quiet in her arms.
"Velvet—"
"We're rather different... when I think about it." the said girl murmured. "You're the type to be open, speaking out your thoughts, and acting on them while I remain to myself—pretending that everything will be okay."
She buried herself deeper of her lover's chest. "I-I'll never understand why I was blessed to be with you, Coco."
Coco could feel the fabric of her clothing collecting drops and only offered a smile that went unseen.
"That's because we're meant for each other."
