Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
A/N: this story isn't good. But I need one more contest for my creative writing class, which ends tomorrow. So I had to get this out quick. It's written for Draco-Hermy's Dialogue challenge. Read and review even though it sucks?
The year Ginny was still in school was horror for both of us. We were apart the whole year. She was stuck in Hogwarts and I was working. As much as I loved training as an auror, I missed her so much. And she missed me more than anything. I had considered teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts, just so I could be near her and see her, but Minerva said no. I think she understood why I suddenly had a huge interest in teaching. So I was following my dream as an auror and living in the Black house with Kreacher. It was kinda lonely, but Ron visited almost everyday. He was also training as an auror.
Every Hogsmeade weekend, I would beg and beg to get off for the day, or even for a few hours. I had to see Ginny! If they said no, I'd just call in sick. The problem is, she had too many Hogsmeade days. I didn't have enough sick days.
We spent the Hogsmeade days laughing and running around and having fun. We would kiss and hug and go to the quidditch store and hang out with Aberforth. His bar became pretty popular thanks to us and his part in the war.
Soon, though, my days ran out. She knew that, and it made her very disappointed that she couldn't see that often...or ever. The first couple weekends, she stayed in the common room, bored and lonely, doing homework. Luna sent me a letter telling me this, and I felt so bad. I knew that I had to find someway to go.
So the next Hogsmeade day, I came up with a way to get out of work. I sent her an owl that morning and she met me by the Hogwarts gates.
She was thrilled to see me, but the first words that came out of her mouth was "how'd you get off of work?"
I gave her a smile and kissed her before I responded. "I used all my sick days, so I called in dead."
"That's funny. Except you're an auror and you could actually die from your profession. It negates the funny!"
"I didn't think you'd like it, but you're happy I'm here right?" I took her hand in mine and lead her to Aberforth's so we could actually enjoy the day. I knew she'd forgive me after we got some butterbeer and hung out with Ab for a little while.
She did forgive me and we had a wonderful day that day. It's one of my favorite memories from that year apart.
At the end, though, she made me promise to never call in dead, ever again. I promised. And I actually kept that promise.
