If you give a green girl a book, she's going to look at you quizically.

She's going to wonder why you- of all people- are giving her a book.

She'll make a couple of snide remarks, regarding you ("the brainless Vinkun Prince) and your new discovery of printed words on a page.

She'll state that she' sneer actually seen you with a book.

She'll even comment, sarcastically, on your new "quirk," but you won't mind, all that much, so you'll hand her the book.

She might just blush lightly (transforming her sharp emerald cheeks, into a soft mauve color), when your fingertips brush together, as you give her it.

She'll look at it, and her eyes will light up, in that beautiful way, that makes you feel all warm and squirmy inside (not that she has to know the effect she has on you...)

She'll look at you with (what you hope is) admiration, and smile slightly, as her long, emerald fingers stroke and run down the book's spine.

She'll mutter a hasty "thank you," already entranced by the premise on the back.

Her navy frock will poof slightly (Oz forbid, she actually notices), as she whirls around- you follow her, and ask where she might be going.

She'll question, cynically, why you care, but won't openly force you to get out of her way (You'll take this as a good sign, and continue to walk beside her, attempting to engage her in a few lively debates, but merely ending up with a plethora of one-sided conversations.

You'll also wonder when exactly you learned the word 'plethora,' and ultimately decide hat you've been spending a lot of time with a certain green girl- you also decide that this is not particularly a bad thing, and actually makes you quite happy).

She'll walk over to the library, and you know that it's because she loves that musky book smell (you learn to love it, as well. It reminds you of her).

She might make her way to the top floor of Shiz's library, and si down on the comfortable bah window. You'll sit opposite her.

She'll quietly read a while, and, for the time being, and sketch her- creating a portrait that even Horrible Morrible would tear up at. You move closer to her.

Her eyes will shift upwards to look at you, puzzled by your sudden movements.

She'll scoff, dubious, when you explain that you want to read as well.

She'll skeptically quirk an eyebrow, but won't protest to your whim.

Her eyes will flit over the pages swiftly, and you might struggle to follow along- all the time wondering whether somebody is going to kill that damn mockingbird. Probably not soon, they've not even mentioned one!

She devours the book, one page at a time, and you realize how concentrated she is, how happy- your book made her content. You made her content.

She'll furrow her brow, as she nears the end, and close it slowly, shutting her eyes and basking in the magic that had settled itself across the room.

She'll look at you, seemingly lighter, more relaxed, and at peace, than you have ever seen her.

She might thank you again, before shuffling out of the dusty room, leaving you alone- you realize how much emptier it all seems, without her.

So, the next day, you give her another book.

And, that's a wrap!

Thank you for reading. This is my first installment of "If You Give A..." Next up is either Fiyero or Galinda. I really hope you enjoyed, and please take a few moments to review- the idea may be stupid, but I personally enjoyed it (of course, I'm more than a little biased).

Thank you!
