A/N I do not own Trigun, nor will I ever… I wish I did. Also Meryl is thinking back after Vash comes back from his fight with Knives. Pretend she doesn't know that he's a Plant, Vash still has his gun and coat and that Knives died due to blood loss. Okay, good.

He's just sitting there. Scarfing down donuts like nothing ever changed, like he didn't just accidentally kill his brother. Not that Meryl wanted Vash to be sad, she never would dream of it. But it was a weird sight. Oh! Who is she kidding? Everything's weird when Vash is involved. The man's just a walking contradiction! One second he's a crying mess, next he's acting like a cold hearted murderer. Then, as soon as someone is hurt, he's back to the crying mess again.

He told her once that the goofball side was just an act, a method so people wouldn't be afraid of him when they find out he's Vash the Stampede. She didn't know whether to believe him or not, she didn't know what to believe anymore. Meryl had been travelling with Vash for ages now, you'd think she would know but she doesn't never did, and probably never will.

"Hey Meryl! What do you think the boss wants us to do this time?" Milly the ever cheerful asked Meryl. "Don't know, hope it's something interesting". Thinking on it, this was probably what made her life too interesting. Along with the words "We have recent news that Vash the Stampede has been spotted in Felnarl Town. We would like you two on behalf of the Bernadelli Insurance Society to run risk prevention on the aforementioned person"

She really must be insane to have taken that job, Meryl doesn't know what that says about Milly, but then she's just, well… Milly.

When she thought about it, all the contradictory views on Vash's appearance probably saved a few towns from destruction. Though maybe all the fakes balanced out that total.

She remembers back when she was a child, growing up. A broadcast sent out on the radio "A new outlaw named Vash the Stampede, has gained a bounty of $$60 billion after eradicating the city of July, and leaving a population of 1.4 million homeless".

Her Mum was running around frantically trying to get in touch with Meryl's aunt who had been staying in July at the time, luckily she managed to reach a small town after the incident.

Meryl always pictured Vash as a big burly man, who has no regard for human life and treats his henchmen like tools, well that's what she saw in the big guy with the green mohawk. Growing up thinking this, was probably the reason she couldn't believe the person she now knows as Vash, to be the the infamous outlaw.

What's the first place you usually think of to gain information in a town you've never even heard of before? Where everyone drinks themselves silly of course! Ignoring the sleazy and drunk patrons Milly and Meryl asked the kind bartender what Vash looked like, being seen recently in Felnarl. His description of him furthered cemented Meryl's thoughts on what the outlaw really looked like, so they went off with quite a bit of confidence in what he looked like.

Obviously they were wrong.
