Seconds in Darkness
A gushing sound, an eruption of blood, gasps of shock, Rotti's coughing, but all Mag saw was darkness. Her knives carved in her eyeballs, and while one might think of her as insane, she was liberating herself. Freedom was coming. Once she removed her accursed eyes, she could finally be free of Rotti.
The black poured in. Color was gone. Never again would she be able to see hues of reds, yellows, and blues. She would never have to look any of the selfish Largo children in the face or their ill father. After all, they only stood as people who used their power to intimidate and conquer.
Yet, her mind was powerful and so was her memory. If Mag could not see, she would think, envision. Darkness could not overlap her light.
Rip! Rip!
They were out! The eyes were gone!
The sounds swarmed into her ears. Audience members screamed. Faces contorted in horror. Hands went up to cover the eyes of loved ones of themselves. She could have sworn Pavi cried out in agony, knowing he wanted her face for himself. Maybe Amber would have gotten a good chuckle, if only her face had not flopped off. Luigi frantically chewed his stolen popcorn, sniggering and commenting that "the bitch went nuts".
Mag let out a pleasured, but shocked gasp. She was free from Geneco. Her contract was terminated. There was nothing left to bind her to Rotti. Unlike the bird, unlike Chromaggia, she was free! There was no more tied arrow to drag her down. Rotti had no more power over her.
For some reason, the darkness seemed blacker like the hole in space. It sucked down everything. It seemed wider, more tempting. However, it was at home. The darkness quickly grew onto her. It was inviting, and she smiled. Her lips, covered in blood and black lipstick stretched. She laughed mirthfully, and for the first time in seventeen years, she felt free.
A slice. A sudden jerk upwards. Mag gasped as her body was heaved towards the sky. She could not understand why the sudden movement, but then she heard a cough.
Rotti!
Suddenly, a wire slid across her flesh. Swiftly, painlessly, it sliced through her pale neck. A straight line remained, and her scarlet poison dribbled down her neck. Mag's head swerved backwards, and forever, her eyes shut. She was already in a realm of black, but where she was going, white would be surrounding her.
Still, she thought as she breathed her last breath, if I must die, at least I died free.
