Author's Note: I've never done a pairing where the coupling was related! I really like this story, although its short, I'm hoping to make a sequel to it soon. If you couldn't tell it was a younger Sesshoumaru and his mother.
"Mommy, why does the sky stop shinning at night? How will mommy find me if the sky isn't bright, and the sun doesn't shine?" cried the little taiyouki with bleach white tresses and dark amber eyes.
"I can see in the dark, little one. My eyes are sharp, and if I do not find you with my eyes, I will find you with my nose. With my nose I will seek you out, and cradle you back home to your bed in my arms," cooed the mother with matching amber eyes and long silver hair.
"Mommy, why did the moon place itself upon your brow? Why not the sun, shinning and warm, why the moon, cold and distant?" whined the little taiyouki, hands held high to trace his mothers markings.
"The moon graced me with its beauty, my little one. It fell upon my brow, cold but never distant. Beautiful and mysterious, it drew your father near and gave me you," replied the mother, placing her hands atop her sons which traced her markings.
"Mommy, why does the sun hide behind the hills, and let the monsters come out at night to hide beneath my bed? Why does the moon look on, and bow its head behind a cloud when I cry for its help?" whimpered the little taiyouki, his eyes whelming up with tears, clouding up his amber eyes.
"Hush, little one. The moon does not hide, but warn me of your troubles so that I may vanquish all those that wish to hurt my pup. The moon has helped me many times in protecting you," hushed the mother who brushed away the little taiyouki's tears with her claws softly.
"Mommy, why do you cry to the moon at night when father is not home? Why does the moon look on with no expression, never wiping mommy's tears away?" whispered the little taiyouki, eyes filled with anger at the moon.
"No, little one, the moon is wise in not wiping my fears away. The moon is old and wizened, knowing just to listen to a mother's plight. The moon shelters me, takes my fears away, quiets my heart," whispered back the mother tenderly to her pup, brushing back the bangs that fell and covered his eyes.
"Mommy, does the moon love you more than father? Does the moon love you more than I do, does the moon horde your love as well?" wailed pitifully the little taiyouki, sad at finding his mother's love to be divided and not all his own.
"Do not fear, little one. My heart shall always belong to you, no matter where I am, no matter whom I meet, my love for you is always first and foremost on my mind. My heart is heavy with the love I hold for you," soothed the mother, placing her clawed hand on her son's heart.
"Mommy, don't you love father? Does your heart not grow heavy with your love for him as well?" yawned the little taiyouki, drowsy with sleep, lids drooping with fatigue, but fighting to stay open.
"Sleep my little one. Grow, become strong so that I may love more of you as the centuries go by. Never doubt that I keep you safe in my heart, as does your father," the mother kissed her son upon the forehead, brushing the chubby cheeks of the little taiyouki she would always love above all else. The moon shone through the curtains, enveloping the small frame of the boy.
"Keep him safe, mother moon. Keep him with you so that he will never lose his way in the dark."
