It was 1970 something, Chloe was walking down the streets of California. She looked inside a window of a bar called Annie's bar. She walked in to see a man named Clay on the stage at the bar. He was a daily comic, he was telling his funny jokes to everyone

"look I just wanna be clear. I'm not just Bostonian, I'm an Italian Bostonian. We still talk with are hands it we only use one finger." He said smiling

Chloe walked into the bar and saw Clay she sat down and he looked at her and smiled. She smiled back at him. She listened to him tell a few more jokes and then he came off the stage with people cheering and putting money in his tip jar. Clay saw Chloe again and smiled, he walked over to her. "Hello, I'm Clay Apuzzuo" he smiled and put his hand out for her to shake.

Chloe smiled "I'm Chloe" she shook his hand. "Your performance was amazing" Chloe said impressed

"Thanks, I've been working on that last one for awhile" he smiled "what do you say we get a drink tonight here or something, I'd like to get to know you better" Clay smiled and hoped in his mind she would agree.

"I'd love to, I- I mean I'd be glad to" she chuckled

"Great, meet me here at 8" he winked at her and then got his money from his tip jar and left.

Something about Clay made Chloe suddenly feel so happy. Recently Chloe had been disowned by her family down in Coronado, California, they said hey never wanted to talk to her again. Chloe had been having a bad day but meeting Clay made it 100 times better.

Clay got back to his apartment and put his cash on his nightstand. He got a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and lit one. He turned the TV on and watched the daily news.

A couple hours later it was 7:30 pm and Chloe and Clay were getting ready.

Chloe walked to her door and grabbed her purse. She then walked to the bar and waited for Clay to arrive. A couple of minutes later Clay arrived and smiled immediately when he saw Chloe.

Chloe smiled at Clay as he approached her "I'm glad you could make it" Clay smiled and said with enthusiasm.

"I'm glad you could too" Chloe smiled. Clay sat down next to her.

"Where are you from Chloe?" Clay asked

"Oh, I'm from Coronado, California, I was just there recently...my family kicked me out of the house a couple of days ago" Chloe sighed

"Oh- I'm sorry" he looked down "Do you have anywhere to stay?" He asked. Chloe shook her head no. "If you like you can stay at my apartment until you have somewhere to stay?"

"Oh, that's ok-" Chloe said and then Clay interrupted.

"No I insist, I don't want you to have no where to stay" he smiled

"Thank you so much Clay" Chloe smiled, Clay smiled back at her.

An hour later*

Clay unlocked his apartment and opened the door for Chloe. She walked in and put her purse on a rack. "You can sleep on the bed, I have a couch I can sleep on" he insisted

Chloe smiled "you've been the nicest person to me since I was kicked out"

"I'm glad I could help" Clay smiled

Chloe sat down on the bed "I like your place" she smiled

"It's not much, but it's home" he smiled softly
