Bad as it gets
Reposted, from my old account xx-natasja-xx/N'T's fanfiction (Edited before posting again)
Hey guys, here is another one-shot coming from my mind.
I had my iPod on shuffle when a song came up called bad as it gets from Jewel, of course immediately an idea popped up in my head.
I know I'm not the best writer on here but I appreciate all your lovely reviews!
Disclaimer: Characters are borrowed from Shonda except for Dylan, he is all mine
Please review.
I close my eyes so I can't see you leaving.
I still hear you, walking out.
I can't move, feels like I am not breathing.
How can I live without you now?
Is this as bad as it gets? Is this as hard as it seems?
Addison watched him walking out of the front door of their house, as she felt her heart falling apart by the sound of the door being closed. His shadow disappearing through the window with every step he took, walking away from the door.
She didn't have much time to think about it as someone started crying upstairs, probably being awoken by the screams earlier in the house.
Addison sighed and wiped away the tears on her face before walking up the stairs and dragging her feet towards the door, where the cries came from.
She opened the door softly, not sure why because the boy behind the door was already awake. She walks in the room and notices her little boy fussing in his crib.
"sstt Dylan, everything is fine" she tells the boy, trying to comfort him as she picks him up from the crib.
He is the splitting image of his dad, the product of what once was love between two adults, two adults who used to be best friends for many years, and fell in love with each other three years ago. A love that ruined a wedding, but that felt worth it at that time.
She kissed him on the top of his head before sitting down in the rocking chair. Whispering soft and loving words to him while rocking the chair forwards and backwards. Knowing her little boy loved that.
It didn't take long before their 8 months old son was asleep again and Addison was once left in the silence of the house.
A silence she hates and always have hated. A silence who meant that her man, and the love of her life wasn't at home with her.
Tears started to form in her eyes again and she just let them fall, no point of holding them back. Holding Dylan gave her comfort, he was her life now and there wasn't a way that she would Mark take him away from her. She would fight for her son with all the strength she has, even though that would be the last thing she would do.
She still couldn't understand how they ended up this way, it seemed to go very well between them. After she divorced Derek after her one night stand with Mark, they stayed together. She really loved him and it appeared to be that he was in love with her for several years but never acted on it because of Derek.
They started out well, Mark stopped sleeping with random woman and was always there for Addison.
Their relationship became rocky since the last eleven months, since Addison was 6 months pregnant with Dylan.
Mark started to spend more time at work, saying he did that so he could take more time off when Dylan would be born. Expect when Dylan was born he never took some time off to be with Addison and Dylan.
At one point of Addison her pregnancy, she started to feel ugly and fat and because of her feelings about herself she started to feel ashamed when Mark saw her naked. They stopped having sex while every inch of her body was screaming for it.
At that point Mark started to sleep with other woman again, without Addison noticing it. Sure she had her doubts about him being sex-sober but she thought she was just imagining it. Trusting Mark.
And now she hated herself for the fact she didn't noticed it before and taking action, maybe if she did he still would be here.
This evening she and Mark had a fight, Mark told her he slept with other woman and fell in love with someone else. Addison had begged him to stay with her and Dylan and give them another chance, but he choose to walk out of their life. Leaving his wife and son behind.
Addison really thought they would make it, that they could try again, she thought that her son was more important to him, but she was wrong.
Years ago after their one night stand, the evening Derek walked in on them she became pregnant, but aborted the fetus because she then believed Mark wasn't father material. Then they started a relationship and Addison thought he had changed.
Addison wiped away one of the tears, still escaping her eyes, before putting Dylan back into his crib. She gave him a kiss before walking out of his room.
she heads towards her bedroom and starts to undress herself before climbing into the cold bed, the bed which on one side is empty and it hurt to know Mark wouldn't be with her for the night.
She switches off the light on her nightstand and let her tears free, giving it a try to forget everything that happened that day.
A couple hours later she was being woken by Dylan, crying for his breakfast. She sighed before dragging herself out of the bed, noticing herself in the mirror, her eyes being bloodshot and puffy, her make up being spread out all over her face. She ignores the sight and walks over towards Dylan his room.
As soon as she opens the door and walks over to his crib, Dylan notices his mother and he starts to giggle, while he finds his toes with his hands and starts playing with them.
The sight of Dylan playing with his toes, brought a big smile on Addison her face and at the moment she realized that she doesn't need Mark in his life.
All she needed was her son and she hoped her son would have a father even though they wouldn't be together as parents.
At that moment she knew she would survive this, and she hoped Mark would see in what he is missing by leaving her and their son behind, maybe he would come back into her life again, or she would learn how to love someone else.
She picked up Dylan and places a kiss on his cheek, he is all she needs.
