This is another one of those odd ideas that have been floating around for a while and I thought it was about time you all got to read it. As always it's just for fun. Not sure it's any good so please read and review.
A LETTER FOR HAWKEYE
By Sarah Hall
At MASH 4077 everyone was in need of something to boost there moral. One morning a truck arrived in the compound with supplies things like toilet rolls and bandages. But along with the supplies came a large bag of post about a months worth. The bag was immediately taken to the office.
It was about an hour later when Hawkeye and BJ heard a polite knock on the door of the swamp and in walked Klinger.
"Hi Klinger" they said together
"Hi guys we have post"
"Fantastic" said BJ
There were two for Charles including one from his sister Honoria. There were three including a small parcel for BJ he had two letters from his wife and in the parcel was a woolly hat with a bobble on the top with a scribbled note from his daughter and a note from his wife in explanation. His daughter had bought it for his birthday which was coming soon but she wanted to make sure Daddy got it before his birthday. Then there was one letter for Hawkeye.
"What have you got there Hawk" asked BJ
"Well it's not from dad, it smells nice"
He opened it and started to read the letter but then stopped.
"Hawk what's wrong"
"Listen" said Hawkeye
So he read the letter out loud.
Dear Hawkeye
You probably don't remember me. You swept me off my feet and saved my life.
I had such deep feelings for you and I promised to send you a postcard from Times Square with all the lights. Well with this letter is the postcard and yes I am back in America but that's where life has changed. Meeting you made me look at life differently and after some thought I've decided to change the direction of my career I've left the world of Entertainment and Show Business behind me and instead I have decided to become a Nurse. I still have feelings for you but they are starting to fade but if ever you are in New York City drop in and say hello.
Still with all my love Marina XXXXXX
"Remember the USO troop who were here a while ago" asked Hawkeye
"Yes" said BJ
"Well looks like I changed her life and well"
"Well good for her she will be very good at it we know what she did here don't we"
"That's true I think I had better write back she's left me the address of her house in New York"
So he did.
"BJ can I read my letter to see what you think"
"Of course"
Dear Marina
I do remember you how could I forget the wonderful things you did. I read your letter with a mix of love, hate, worry and happiness. I or should that be we, had no idea we had such an influence on you. You will however make a wonderful caring nurse and if I am ever in New York and in need of nursing I will know who to contact.
From Hawkeye still somewhere in Korea X X
"Sounds great" said BJ
"Thanks I will get Klinger to deal with it"
The End
