Jane Shepard despised the cold. It was hardly a known fact around her crew since the woman seemed stone cold in the first place. It seemed like the perfect weather for her.
But the shivering cold air was a thing she could live without. It chapped her lips, turned them blue, and gave her normally smooth skin a crude texture on her arms and legs.
Attractive.
But the one thing she hated was pointlessness. Which is exactly what was happening.
"Commander? We couldn't find anything. Should we check once more?" The soft melodic voice of Liara wafted into Jane's frozen ears as the woman stood glaring angrily into the approaching blizzard.
"Hackett said that a team of Cerberus scientists were here doing research on indoctrination. We have to find them. Dead or alive for confirmation."
"But the storm..if we stay here any longer-.."
"I know Liara. Which is why I'm going alone."
Bright blue eyes widened as Jane began adjusting her gear on her back and around her waist. Her violet eyes blinked slowly as snowflakes blew harshly into her eyes.
"Shepard! The storm..you won't make it."
Sighing softly, Jane latched her helmet tightly onto her head as Kaidan came into view with a disproving glare.
"Shepard, I'm going with you."
Shaking her head once, Jane narrowed her eyes to her two companions. "I have to. I'll be fine. If I'm-.."
Pain. That was all that filtered in through her mind. Once second she was ready to argue with her companions and the next she was on the ground. Blood seemed to flow endlessly around her and Jane couldn't help but gasp loudly as gunfire echoed in her ears.
"COMMANDER!"
Four shots. All ranging from her shoulder to her stomach. Two vital. She was going to bleed out.
"JOKER! We need to go! Shepard's down! Get Chakwas and her team ready. She's going into shock!"
Blood trickled from her mouth as her body unwillingly shook.
Fuck. She was going to die in her most hated environment. Snow
