BLACK OUT
After their fight at The Penny last week and their make-up, Gail and Holly had been spending all their free time together. No spare time was wasted. Gail had taken a day off of work when Holly didn't have to go in, and Holly continuously called into work late.
At this time it was around 8pm, Holly and Gail were laying together on Holly's couch. "News bulletin, major storm warning for all of Toronto."
"Shit!"
"What, what is it? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just don't like storms is all." Gail Peck, the toughest cop in Toronto, afraid of thunderstorms.
"Well you have nothing to worry about, I'm here with you."
Gail snuggled in close to Holly as the first sign of rain was seen and heard out the window. As the first flash of lightning passed with a rumble of thunder after it. Gail jumped and buried her face in the crook of Holly's neck.
"Hey, Gail, you are okay. You're safe, I won't let anything happen to you." Instinctively, Holly wrapped her arms around Gail to pull her in closer as a way of comfort.
Another flash and roll of thunder was heard and the lights flickered off and on in a few seconds. Gail wrapped her arms tightly around Holly's neck and buried her face in deeper.
"You'll be fine. You're okay Gail."
Holly heard something muffled breathe onto her neck. "Scared." Was all she made out of it. Putting it together in her own head she realised Gail was afraid of thunderstorms, but she had had a bad past when it came to the dark and she didn't want her to feel that way.
The lights flickered off again as thunder rolled by. Gail started to whimper softly into Holly's neck. Holly could feel a single hot tear fall onto her neck.
"Gail, I'm right here. You're safe. Look at me, please." With her request Gail lifted her head up to look into Holly's eyes.
Holly melted at the sight of Gail's terror stricken eyes. "Gail, I know you have some problems with the dark, I know that sweetie. But you're safe with me, you're not in the past anymore. You might be the cop, but I can still protect you. There is nothing to worry about."
"I know, but I can't help the flashbacks, and I've never been good with storms since I was a kid. I feel like a kid right now." Gail sniffed. She hadn't been this vulnerable since she first told Holly of her abduction and her fear of the dark from it.
"I'll always be here for you, and you know that." Holly said sweetly. "Let's go to bed, I'll light some candles and we can try and wait out this storm."
"Yeah, I'd like that." Gail whispered as she pulled herself off the couch and grabbed Holly to.
