Uncomfortable: Experiencing physical discomfort
Abby let herself into her apartment and dragged herself over to the couch. Her feet felt like over inflated balloons, her back ached, and her bladder felt like it had been tap danced on. She never thought it would be this hard to work while pregnant. When Abby first found out she was pregnant, she figured she would work up to her 8th month and have no problems. Now she was just over 5 months along, and she felt like she had been run over by a truck. Abby ran her hand over her belly. Despite all the discomforts the outcome would be worth it. A baby. Her and John's baby. Abby had thought she would never have a baby, so she was determined to enjoy all of her pregnancy, all of the physical discomforts included.
Abby lay on the couch for a few more minutes then she could no longer ignore the need to use the restroom. If she waited much longer, a well- placed kick could cause problems. After she finished her business in the bathroom, Abby took a longing look at her bed. Who cared that it was 4 in the afternoon, a nap would do her good. Abby eased herself into her bed, and lay down. She wished she could lie on her back, but she couldn't breath if she did that. She pulled John's pillow under her belly and her extra one under her back. Now she could relax.
Wack, she felt a kick in her ribs.
Boom, that one was aimed more towards her spine.
So much for relaxing. Abby didn't mind, the kicks didn't really hurt, they were just uncomfortable and with every kick Abby knew that her and John's baby was well and growing. The baby settled down, and Abby felt more gentle rolls than sharp kicks. Lulled by these soft movements, Abby fell asleep.
John entered Abby's apartment and looked around. He didn't see Abby anywhere and the apartment was quiet. He quietly walked into the bedroom. There was Abby, soundly asleep, amongst a nest of pillows. John smiled as he looked at her. He knew working was uncomfortable for her, although he wasn't about to tell her she was starting to get that pregnant lady waddle. John figured that if he brought it up he would be more than a little uncomfortable sleeping on the couch. John got undressed and slipped into bed with Abby. So what if it was late afternoon, he couldn't resist the quiet time with them. As he lay with Abby spooned behind him, he felt the baby kicking his back. He smiled as he felt the repeated pounding, this kind of back pain he could handle.
