Major Samantha Carter and Colonel Jack O'Neill are sitting at the table being debriefed along with the rest of SG1. Their last mission had been largely uneventful, although Daniel had had an interesting time. The culture of P7X-629 seemed to have been based on early English cultures, mixed with the Goa'uld's influence. The result was a fascinating Egypto- celtic language that promised to occupy him for a considerable length of time. As a result, general Hammond gave the rest of the team the next fortnight off. When the debriefing ended, Daniel jumped up and left the room eagerly anticipating his research. Teal'c, typically stoic rose and walked out of the briefing room leaving the General with the two military members of SG1.

"Well" said Sam, as she stood "I'm going to my lab, that naquadah reactor's calling to me. I'll see you later Colonel, General"

Jack looked up at this, "not so fast Carter, you've got two weeks off. Remember last time? You spent that downtime playing with your reactor thingy and had no FUN. A crucial element of being on downtime."

"The Colonel's right" joined in Hammond "your dedication to the SGC is admirable, but this time I'm ordering you to relax. At least for the first week. Then," he conceded, "I'll let you continue your work."

Rolling her eyes, Sam was forced to relent - the double order was a bit much to protest about this time.

"Colonel" continued General Hammond "could you see the major off the base? I fear the lure of her lab may prove too strong for her."

Wearing one of his classic shit-eating grins, Jack stood up and saluted "Sir, yes Sir!" turning, he ordered "Major, about turn.Quick march" and pushed his reluctant 2IC out of the briefing room. On his way out he cheerfully shouted over his shoulder "see you in a fortnight George, have fun now!"

Once out of sight of the briefing room, Sam stopped and turned to look at Jack with a glare that would have terrified him if he didn't know her so well. "I'm not a child sir, I think I can be trusted to find my own way out." Despite this, he showed no signs of giving in, so she changed tactics to faux-hurt: "This really isn't necessary."

"Sorry major, no can-do," he interrupted "I have my orders, and I intend to stick to them like the obedient person that I am. Now, are we going straight up, or do you need to collect anything first?" "Lab" she muttered and walked off leaving a rather amused Colonel standing in the corridor.

By the time Jack reached her lab she had already started to pack away some of the more delicate equipment lying around. "Make yourself comfortable" she said with no small amount of sarcasm...
