This is based on Evanescence's song Lacrymosa. I love that song :) and I couldn't resist writing this. Please please please review. one-shot

I own nothing.

Remus sighed as he looked at his best friend sitting in a cold prison cell. He knew this was not what Sirius had wanted, but his friend was strong enough to accept it.

Out on your own, cold and alone again. Can this be what you really wanted baby?

"Blame it on me," Remus muttered. "Set your guilt free."
"I swear to you I didn't do it," Sirius stammered.

"Nothing can hold you back now."
Remus sighed. Maybe it was a bad idea to come see him after all. But Remus didn't want to go his whole life not knowing if it was true.
With James and Peter dead, and Sirius in Azkaban, he found himself grieving more than he should, grieving as he did for his mother as a young child.

Now that you're gone, feel like myself again; grieving the things I can't repair, and willing . . .

"To let you blame it on me, and set your guilt free. I don't want to hold you back now love," Remus stated again.

Sirius looked up. All of his life, he had held Remus as he cried and told him to blame him for everything, that it would make him less guilty. Now he found his friend saying the same words to him. "I didn't do it, please understand that. If you would just testify for me I could be let out, we could be close again." But Sirius knew that Remus would never go against something he thought was right, and he utterly thought it was his fault the Potter's had died.

"I can't change who I am," Remus started. "Not this time, I won't lie to keep you near me."

Sirius just couldn't believe his own best friend thought he was actually guilty, that he would do something so low. Wasn't his love for his friends enough to prove he was loyal? "And in this short life, there's no time to waste on giving up. My love wasn't enough," Sirius chimed in.

Remus looked up at Sirius, and for a second he thought he would break down and cry. Could he really have thought this man in front of him was lying?

"And you can blame it on me, set your guilt free, honey," Remus sang in a low voice, barely perceptible for Sirius to hear.

"I don't want to hold you back now, love," Sirius finished. "I didn't do it, I swear Remus."

"I believe you Sirius," Remus spoke, on the verge of tears. "I'll get you out."

And with that, Remus Lupin left the prison, tears welling up in his eyes.
