"Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All The Way." that was the doorbell. James had magicked it into playing Jingle Bells instead of ringing. Which was a little odd, since it was summer. He began humming to the tune as he hurried over to get the door.

"James, you really need to change that doorbell." Lily said, in greeting.

"What, don't you like the whole 'Christmas In July' thing" he asked, pretending to look hurt.

"Oy, James, it isn't even July" Lily laughed, kissing James on the cheek after walking in. "So, what have you prepared for dinner tonight"

"Ziti with sauce, cheesy garlic bread, and mixed fruits." James said, proudly.

"We Wish You A Merry Christmas, We Wish You A Merry Christmas."

"Oh, that's the microwave" James said, he'd also magicked that into playing a familiar christmas carol. Lily rolled her eyes.

James opened the microwave and pulled out two glass bowls. They each held the cheap microwave ziti. The plastic packages were still on the counter. "Hey, Lils, could you open the sauce" he motioned towards the table, which held two silver packages of 'Classic Meat Sauce'. Lily picked them up, and handed them to James in a stupor. "Thanks, love. Oh, and could you put the garlic bread in the microwave? It's over there, thanks." he said as he slathered the cheap-looking sauce into each bowl.

Lily did as James asked, although she was altogether surprised at the meal James had prepared for their date. She looked at the box on the counter, and opened it. The cheesy garlic bread had all sorts of green specks on it(and Lily was disgusted to find a few blue specks, too), and the cheese was the cheap plastic-looking yellow cheese. The bread didn't look frozen, just stale.

"Do you want Tropical Mixed Fruit or Citrus Mixed Fruit" James asked her. Lily turned to see a can of preserved fruit in each of his hands.

"James Potter, what kind of dinner is this! Canned fruit, moldy garlic bread, those thin microwavable ziti, and that nasty sauce? Honestly! I think I'll be leaving now" Lily cried, angrily. She put the moldy piece of bread down on the counter, and began to walk towards the door. She glanced at James, who was grinning. "And what is so funny"

"Well, why don't you go and sit down at the table? Go on, sit down" James said, leading her to the dining room table, which was clearly visible from the kitchen. He put a plate in front of her, reached under the counter, and pulled out a pan of cooked ziti that looked absolutely delicious. He then pulled out another pan, which contained thick red, meaty sauce. James put a scoop of each on her plate, and got out a bowl of freshly cut mixed fruit. "Surprise" he said.

Lily stood up and slapped James across the face"Don't do that to me, you stupid prat" Then she kissed him, swiftly on his cheek.

"So, I take it you like? I apparated over to Italy for the sauce and the ziti. Oh, and I almost forgot" he grabbed a platter with carefully arranged garlic bread, sprinkled with cheese. "There's this wonderful bakery on the outskirts of Barcelona, the garlic bread is fabulous. Try a piece. Oh, and I apparated over to South America for the fruits. They taste much better when they aren't shipped, you know."

"Oh, and you did all this for me" Lily asked, truly touched.

"Nah, it's all for my other girlfriend. Do you think she'll like it" James kidded. "So, shall we eat"

"I believe we shall" Lily replied.

"Alright, but first can I ask you something" James said, retorically, as he knelt on one knee. "Lily Evans, will you marry me"
