Metaphor comparing life to an object that goes away quickly and meaning that one's life has little meaning in the end from how short it is.

So many murders happen in cellars.

They really do need to stop copycatting the cellar murderer of the 1800s who murdered his wife by first poisoning her then suffocating her with a cloth dipped in noxious gases before he cut her up into pieces and distributed them around. his mistake was merely that he buried part of her chest and organs in his own cellar.

He was the very first criminal to be caught using Telegraph lines when he and the young lady he wished to be with had snuck onto a boat headed for Canada. Disguised only by shaving off his mustache and his young lady friend along for the ride dressed as his son.

The part that makes me laugh is that the telegraph tipoff between the police units had said that he would likely shave off his beard and have a young companion with him with the looks of a boy but the form, voice, and characteristics of a woman. Even when I first read the news in the paper I marvelled at it. how did they know that back in that day, (1834 ish or was it1838?).

Another thing I never understood was why didn't he just dump all of her little pieces into the Thames River?

No one would have checked there seeing as it was around this time that the river was so polluted that when a boatload of passengers crashed into a steamer, any passengers who swallowed the water died soon after with Fishermen in the area reporting the bodies floating to the surface only 6 days later when the regular time was 9 days. the bodies were all so bloated that they couldn't fit into regular coffins and they all exuded a slimy substance that wouldn't go away even after washing.

Seriously, why didn't he just dump all of her Parts into that?

It's not like anyone was going scuba diving in that mess anytime soon.

Makes you wonder what I'll be doing to Matthew when he comes to visit.

What with our Nation abilities to regenerate body parts and reincarnate if it the damage is too great...and with my increased ability and skill now after centuries of practice to correctly time my forgetting spell (yes, the same one I cast on Matthew to make him forgettable, just in case, you know?) just right so that my playthings never know...well, what is it they say? All the best people are bonkers.
