Just as the 3-hour-old child laughed to her mother did some petals of the sunflower outside the window fly over the village, reaching the sky – the second star to the right, to Pixie Hollow.
Fairies were at work, till those petals passed by them to the old tree, where they all followed. They sat down on its branches and waited to see the new arrival. Vidia placed the petals gently so that they'd lean over each other, Terrance poured pixie dust over them. Just then, the new fairy was born, poking her head up, the other fairies can now see how she looked like. Brown-haired, with her sun-flower dress, and her eyes having a colour that the fairies had never seen before except in flowers-never in eyes. She looked around to the smiling fairies that were greeting her from all around her, indeed it was a colourful world she was born to. But to her confusion she did not exactly know what to do, except to smile back at them.
She then saw lights forming before her to reveal four tall fairies, and a brighter light glowing to reveal a beautiful crowned fairy. "Queen Clarion!" She heard the fairies say amongst themselves.
"Born of laughter, clothed in cheer, happiness has brought you here" Queen Clarion said in a welcoming tone "Welcome to Pixie Hollow." The new fairy smiled at her friendliness. The Queen nodded to the fairies, as one of each group came to place an item on the mushrooms that magically appeared, forming a circle around her. She watched in confusion, but the Queen soon explained what she should do "Choose my dear, one of these will show you your talent, who you are."
The new fairy nodded as she looked around, eager to know her talent. She headed to the first one, the flower, for it had looked so beautiful. She touched it, and watched it wilt. She frowned with disappointment, as she looked to the right. She saw a round blue water drop, and thought how graceful it looked, transparent yet clear enough to be seen. She tried to hold it carefully, but it dropped to smaller, more transparent water drops. Going further to a glowing light, it faded into nothing. She looked back at the Queen, who smiled at her and motioned her hands to the other objects "You'll find it." The new fairy tried to trap a tear, for she had almost given up. She walked to a rock tied to a wooden stick, but it dropped, then to the whirlwind which faded to dust, to the pixie dust that lost its glow, to a tiny insect that flew away, to the snow-flake that melted, and then to….nothing. There was nothing left.
The fairies gasped, but the Queen held up a hand giving a firm look. "Come my dear" the Queen held her hand and looked at her. As the new fairy was trying to blink away tears, the Queen noticed her eyes.
"Your name shall be: Violet" she was named after her eyes, for she had no talent. "Come with me" the Queen held Violet's hand and flew over to a hole in the tree. The fairies had left, Violet was told to wait outside, and the Queen spent hours with the four ministers discussing the matter. The matter of this talentless fairy.
Violet stood outside, with her arms crossed trying to hold herself together, for she felt she had shattered like all the other objects she saw. Shattered to nothing
