Ed vowed that he would never, ever admit he was doing this.

Not to anyone. Especially not to Roy. Stupid smug bastard. His ego didn't need to get any bigger than it already was, goddammit.

But he was taking so long! At least it felt that way, though Ed suspected that it hadn't been nearly as long as it felt. He was getting fidgety and restless - well, more fidgety and restless than he normally was. He didn't like waiting around for anything or anyone and this was just aggravating him now.

He continued looking out the window, waiting for Roy's car to come into vision, glancing up hopefully whenever he heard the sound of a car approaching, only to flop back down in disappointment when it wasn't the one he was looking for. He didn't like that he was missing him so much when he'd only been out for a few hours. It didn't seem right.

He'd certainly never admit that he was actually watching out the window for him, no way. It seemed so ridiculously out of character and sappy. Roy would just laugh at him. Even so... he couldn't seem to tear his face from the window. Why wasn't he here already?

"Stupid bastard. Why do you make me feel like this?" Ed grumbled to himself, shifting into a more comfortable position.

As he finally saw the car turn the corner and ease into the driveway his heart leapt. Finally! However, when he realised that Roy was actually getting out of the car already, he yelped and ran from the window (slightly fogged-up from Ed's breath), snatching a book from the coffee table and stumbled over to the sofa as fast as he could, not wanting Roy to see that he'd been waiting for him. He sat down abruptly trying to look natural, opened the book halfway and pretended to read it as he heard Roy open the front door, come in and close it again. Ed tried to steady his breathing so it would seem like he had been there the whole time. He tried not to grin stupidly.

Roy came into the living room and saw Ed with his face shoved in a book, apparently so intrigued he hadn't even noticed the taller man come in.

"...Hello?" Roy tried, feeling a little miffed that Ed hadn't even responded to his coming home.

Ed slowly put the book down and cast a sly look at Roy. After a long pause, he managed a weak, sheepish, "Hi." It actually sounded rather guilty, but Roy decided not to mention it.

Roy grinned, sat down next to Ed and threw an arm round his shoulders lazily. "Sorry I'm late back. Traffic. Did you miss me?" he teased, giving Ed a quick peck on the cheek.

Ed rolled his eyes, but snuggled up to Roy nevertheless. "Heh. Miss you? Not a chance."

Tell me what you think?
