Author's Note: Hi everyone. I was bored and felt the need to write and this kind of manifested in my mind so I typed it and posted it. Hope you enjoy. R&R please!

"Edward?" My arm hesitantly reached out into the darkness, flesh meeting stone cold flesh. All of my senses were heightened to a maximum, my body shaking with the memory of pain still fresh in my mind. It had been worse than I could ever imagine. I had lost count of the times I had screamed for Edward to finish it, to stop the pain, but he wouldn't. He had held me close, whispering in my ear that it would all be over soon. I had heard the pain in his voice, felt him wince with every cry I uttered. He had stayed by my side the entire time, sharing my agony.

Now, as the shaking subsided, the change complete, I sought the comfort I had been waiting for. Sure enough, long, thin fingers entwined with my own, pulling me forward. I leaned into Edward as his arms wrapped around me, holding me in a tight embrace.

"I'm so sorry, Bella." I could practically feel his anguish, and I tilted my head up, planting a gentle kiss on his cold lips. I breathed in his scent, enjoying it more than ever before.

"I'm okay, Edward. Really." Now that the pain was gone, I found I was able to be charitable. I knew he had suffered as much as I did, possibly more. But I didn't care. Now we could be together forever. A tug brought me back to my senses, and I followed Edward up the basement stairs and into the rest of the house. In the living room, his entire family stood waiting, an array of emotions on there beautiful faces.

Alice, a broad grin on her tiny face, danced over to me, pulling me into a hug. She squealed and stepped back, and I knew she was preparing my next makeover. I cringed internally, turning towards told her tall, blonde companion. Jasper smiled sadly at me, his eyes meeting mine for a fleeting second before he excused himself, disappearing up the stairs, Alice racing after him. Rosalie glowered at me, her ethereal beauty striking me still. She stormed upstairs and after a swift hug from a gigantic Emmett, he followed her. I flinched, dejected that even as vampire his family still wouldn't hang around me.

"Bella, honey." Esme, sweet motherly Esme, held her arms out to me and stepped forward, wrapping my arms around her slim figure. "I'd say welcome to the family, dear, but it seems you've been a member for a long time, now."

"Thank you, Esme," I replied, thankful for her compassion. I retreated back to Edward's side, his arm extending around my waist. Carlisle and Esme, with a final congratulating welcome, exited the room, leaving me and Edward alone once again. He turned to me, holding my hands at his chest, his topaz eyes burning into mine.

"Are you sure you made the right decision? I don't want you to regret doing this." I nodded and kissed his cheek.

"Yes, I made the right decision. The decision was you. How could I ever want anything else?" I stared up at my angel, willing him to believe the sincerity of my words. I would rather die than lose him. I had chosen to spend an eternity with the one I loved. Nothing would ever change the way I felt. Standing beside him, noticing the absence of my beating heart, I realized my life had ended. Still, in that end, a new beginning had been created, and I wasn't afraid. I had Edward. And nothing else mattered anymore.
