It wasn't enough that they were trapped by a snowstorm with no power, but Dr. Nambu had gone for help two hours ago and there was still no sign of him. Ryu was beginning to wonder if they'd be here the rest of their lives.

Jinpei, initially thrilled for a chance to make snowmen and throw snowballs at the rest of them, now stared glumly out the window, every now and then grumbling about how much he hated snow. Joe was repeatedly calling Dr. Nambu on his wrist communicator, sighing in frustration and trying to fix every appliance in the house to no avail. Ken was catching some well-deserved (in his opinion) rest, snoring softly with his arm around Jun as they shared a nearby sofa and musty army blanket.

Ryu was standing guard.

They could be trapped here forever, he realized. Dr. Nambu could be in trouble and unable to contact them, Galactor could catch them off-guard in their state of panic and take them all out.

We should've stayed at the base like Dr. Nambu said in the first place, instead of chasing Galactor around what might as well be the South Pole, he thought. Just then, he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around to see Jun smiling at him.

"Ryu, Ken and I will take over from here. You get some rest," she offered. Ken nodded an affirmative, and Ryu smiled. If nothing else at least we're in this together.

"Thanks," he said, lying down and stretching out on the sofa. The last thing he heard before he dozed off was Joe yelling into his communicator yet again.
