Chapter 4
The Whisper of Thoughts
At the top of buildings, soared the bird, majestic creature it was. Black its sleek beak opened and closed echoing a caw throughout the surroundings. Miles beneath casually strolled a man. Hair long, dressed in black, with an evil glare in his eyes and a blank expression on his face. It was sixty years after the incident, his mind still tortured him. The screams, the profanity, the despair, the blackness of hell. He stood straight and looked up. The bird landed gracefully on his shoulder.
"Why do you allow me to live still?" said Ralph with the same blank expression, " I have gotten my revenge but it doesn't ease the pain,"
"You have a strong heart and will to live….. But, you see nothing in this life for you since she died," said the crow to him not opening its beak.
"You don't know what you are talking about, you don't know how I feel," said Ralph anger now building in him.
"I do, you feel sorry for yourself, Pathetic human," scoffed the crow, "I have need for you, I cannot send you back just yet."
"And what is that purpose?" he said looking at the bird.
"You will see when he comes," the bird took flight again.
"He?" Ralph sounded confused. The bird could now hear him he was already beyond him. Ever since he gained his immortality he got these visions, visions of death, anger, lots of anger and hell. He didn't know what they meant and there was a lot that the crow was not telling him. And the crow said he …. Who can He be?
Later on that day, back in an old apartment, he lay down on the bed with his eyes closed. He drifted off to where?
There was the crow talking to him but he did not know what he was saying. Then a hooded figure took its place, no arms or legs could be seen, nor a face. A hand came out from where the face supposed to be and touched him on the forehead. The words 'I have need for you' came into his every thought. There he saw a vision of a man, long hair, an old traveller's cloak.
"Is that Him?" Ralph spoke but nothing came out. The figure watched back at him then disappeared.
He awoke in no time at all. He held his head in his hands, and the thought of late Sarah flowed through his mind sorrow and joy broke into his conscious and said to her,
"What have I become?" The thought whispered back at him,
"An immortal," and the thought smiled back at him.
