Koda spent a happy day with Kenai, swimming together, eating salmon together and frolicking together. Koda decided to get some honey for Kenai from a beehive nearby so he slipped away to surprise him with it - after all, if anyone got in his way, he'd be a raging ball of brown fur.
He walked through a glade and saw a hive up a tree. He started to climb it when a roar erupted.
He fell down and came face to face with a ferocious bear.
"HOW DARE YOU STEAL MY HONEY?!"
"I didn't know this was your territory!"
"Leave him alone!"
They turned to see Tug looking angry.
"Leave the cub alone!"
"OR WHAT?!"
"I will take you down!"
The bear charged at Tug who grabbed his neck by his arms and slammed him down. The bear got up and tried to bite Tug's face but he dodged it and pushed the bear down. Tug lunged at the bear who dodged and took Tug down. Tug lifted him under with his hind legs and he went flying. The bear charged at Tug he dodged it and neck-locked him. The bears knocked out and they ran back to the Salmon Runs.
Tug sat on his bottom and looked at Koda who was quivering.
"You okay, Koda?"
"You saved me!" cried Koda as he nuzzled his face into Tug's belly, stretching his arms as wide as they could allow him to hug.
Kenai was hugging Tug tight ever so grateful for saving his little brother.
"It was my pleasure," chuckled Tug as looked down at Koda hugging into his belly.
"You saved me, Tug!"
"No messes with my pal," smiled Tug as he picked him up and noogied him.
Koda, Kenai and Tug feasted on some juicy salmon in Tug's cave. Kota looked up at his hero.
"Will I ever be big like you?"
"I don't see why you can't," said Tug.
"How? Can I do anything?"
"Well," said Tug. "You could start with a little weight."
He tickled Koda's belly gently making the cub laugh.
"Like yours," Koda teased tickling the big bear's own big belly.
"Exactly," laughed Tug. "You will soon become big and strong, little Koda. You just need to be patient. You're still only a cub."
Kota looked on the bight side of being a cub: he still had big, strong arms to cuddle into for warmth and protection.
Soon the three bears got tired and got ready to sleep. Tug got on his front and fell asleep almost at once, as did Kenai who slept next to him.
Koda crawled under Tug's chest and began to fall asleep, content with the warmth Tug had offered - as well as the assurance of him being there in case any more ferocious bears would occur.
