Chapter 1
A new beginning in life?
He thought about what had happened as he sped through lane in between cars. The memories he dared not remember. He turned the radio on as the tears slowly crept. He wasn't crying because he was sad, but because he was angry. Linkin Park's "In the end" was on and he couldn't help it but sing along.
"One thing, I don't know why.
It doesn't even matter how hard you try.
Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time, All I know, time is a valuable thing
Watch as the pendulum swings, watch it count down to the end of the day…"
His Lexus IS200 just flew through the lanes, passed by the other cars like they were inanimate objects. The speed pumped the adrenaline through his veins. When he gripped the wheel it's liked if nothing else mattered. His life was always at stake, but he didn't care, he just wanted to get to the end. He slowed down as his exit was coming up. He turned and wiped the tears from his face. A smile came about as he read the sign he had wanted to 2 hours back. "You are now entering Miami." Just another 15 minutes and he'll be at his cousin's house.
Just as those thoughts came, they were quickly replaced with the memories. Topping the speed limit by a good 80 miles, a highway patrol pulled him over. He didn't want to be in any more trouble he calmly pulled over. He lowered his window as the officer walked over to the car.
"How may I help you Mr. Officer of the law?" The young man asked.
"Do you know why I pulled you over?" The officer asked.
"I can't think of the slightest thing." He replied. "You're the officer of the law, please, won't you tell me?"
"You were going way over the speed limit! I'm going to have to give you a ticket." The officer said
"Gee, thank you, Mr. Police Man."
The young man got the ticket and was on his way. He was shortly at his cousin's house. He honked the horn. A man in his mid-twenties with blonde hair and blue eyes came out with a confused face. He walked closer and smiled and walked over to the car.
"MIKE! What the hell are you doing here?" The man said.
"Brian! What's up cous'" Mike replied.
"Never been better! What's up? Why you here?" Brian asked.
"Man, I wanted to start a new life. I left New York to come to sunny Miami!" Mike Replied. "I was wondering if I can stay here to start a new life."
"Of Course, man! Family is Family, always and for ever!" Brian responded.
Mike opened the back door and took out his bag of clothes and his box of shoes. Brian opened the door and showed him his room. He just set everything down in the middle of the room. Mike went back outside and closed his car and put the alarm on it.
"Damn Mike, You raced some back in NY?" Brian asked.
"Lets just say I kept my pockets fat and put food on the table" Mike replied.
"If you want, you can come down with me tonight and see if you can get some cash in you pockets and put that baby up to some Miami heat." Brian said.
"I'm down for what ever man." Mike said. "I've been through a lot these past few days, and I can go through a whole lot more. Its might be whatever's under the hood, but if the driver isn't anything he isn't going to get anything."
