A Draco/Ron HC.
I was sitting by myself near the lake. I'd just had a huge fight with my best friend. As I was tossing rocks into the lake I heard a voice behind me.
"Hey Weaselbee. Have a fight with Potter did you?"
"Shove off Malfoy." I replied without even looking up. I could hear him walking up behind me and I sighed knowing he was going to stay and be a prat.
"He doesn't deserve you as a friend you know." Draco said quietly. I looked over confused. Draco was standing right behind me. He placed a hand on my shoulder.
"He treats you like a sidekick. Ignores you until he needs something." Draco leant down looking into my eyes. The next thing I knew he was kissing me. I pulled away. "Bloody Hell. What are you doing?" I said scrambling away from him.
"Why do you think I give you nicknames? I've loved you for years Ron. I just figured you might need some company since Potter and Granger seem to be ignoring you at the moment. So I thought now would be the best time to come clean and tell you how I feel." I stared at Draco as he spoke. I thought for a second then realised he was probably just setting me up for something. I shook my head and started to walk away. Draco grabbed my arm. "I know you have every right to think I'm pulling some kind of prank on you but I promise I'm not. I...I was thinking we could go to the ball together if you wanted." I pulled away as he spoke.
"I'm not...I don't...get lost Malfoy." I stuttered running back up to the castle.
Sitting in the common room that night, much as I tried I couldn't stop thinking about him. And that kiss. I hadn't dared to look at him as I'd left because I knew I'd hurt him. After sitting and thinking about it for hours I decided that I would go and find him the next day and give him the benefit of the doubt.
The next morning at breakfast I pretended to listen to Seamus while scanning the Slytherin table for Draco. But he was nowhere to be seen. After I finished eating I decided to go for a walk before class. I was walking past an empty classroom when I realised there was someone crying inside.
"It's ok Draco. He's just a loser Weasley anyway." I heard Pansy Parkinson saying. Between sobs I heard Draco's answer.
"But I poured my heart out and he broke it into pieces. My father will hear about this."
I wanted to walk inside but I figured Draco probably wouldn't want me to know he was crying. I realised I was late for class and made up my mind to find him at lunch and let him know how I felt.
As I sat through class I payed less attention than usual trying to think of places Draco might go at lunch if he wasn't in the Great Hall.
Finally lunch came around and I walked into the Hall. Draco was sitting at the table eating and I noticed him look up as I walked in. I tried to catch his eye but he avoided mine. I watched him while I ate and when I saw him walk out on his own I grabbed my food and followed him.
"Draco wait up." I ran up to him. He stopped and glared at me.
"What?" I nodded as he said it.
"Yeah I deserve that. I've been a prat. I'm sorry I was just confused and in shock yesterday. I didn't mean to be horrible...If you still want we can go to the ball together..." I said hoping he'd say yes. Draco smiled widely and hugged me.
"Thanks Ron...Want to go to the lake before class?" I nodded and we walked down to the lake. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed Hermione and Harry had been watching. I could have sworn Harry looked jealous. I grinned to myself. Serves him right I thought. Draco and I were going to be very happy together
