Rosie's Birth

Ron Weasley walked in his front door. It had been a boring day at the Ministry. He looked around for Hermione and was surprised when he couldn't find her. He'd known she would be out during the day but had thought she would beat him home. He shrugged off the feeling in the back of his head that something was wrong. She'd probably be home soon. Harry and Ginny were coming for dinner and Hermione would want to make sure she had everything ready before they arrived. Ron cleared up the house a little then sat down to enjoy a firewhiskey.

By the time he'd finished his drink, there was a knock at the door. He got up and answered it. Harry and Ginny were standing there smiling.
"Hey Ron." Ron smiled and let them in. Ginny looked around. "Where's Hermione?" Ron shrugged. "Not sure. She said she had errands to run this morning when I left for work but I assumed she'd be home when I got back. I've been home for about an hour and she hasn't shown up." Harry and Ginny exchanged looks. "Ron did you check through the house for her?" Harry asked. Ron shook his head. "She usually comes and talks to me about my day so I just assumed she wasn't home yet." Ron replied starting to feel panic. "I'll look upstairs. Why don't you and Ron check the back yard?" said Ginny.

Walking outside Ron mentally kicked himself for not checking the house when he'd got home. As they checked the garden and had no luck Ginny came walking up. "She's not in the house." she told them. Ron was really starting to panic when he heard a strange noise. It was coming from the greenhouse. He ran over to check it out. Hermione was lying in a pile of rose bush cuttings holding a baby in her arms.

"Hermione! Are you ok?" Ron said running up to her. She looked up tiredly and smiled. "I was cutting the rose bushes and well...the baby decided to come. I was going to come back up to the house but I was tired." Ron sighed relieved. "I was starting to worry." Harry and Ginny sat next to Hermione. "We have a daughter Ron. I was thinking since she was born while I was cutting the rose bushes...could we name her Rose?" Ron grinned and nodded. "She's adorable." Ginny said looking at her niece with a smile. Harry helped Hermione to her feet. "Let's get you up to the house." he said. She smiled and nodded. As they walked up to the house Ron sighed to himself. Never again would he ignore bad feelings.
