The apprentice should always obey unless the mentor is proven insane or mentally unstable.

"Halt, what's the Apprentice Code of Conduct?"

The mentor may put the apprentice through most any punishment that he sees fit.

"It's something that came in very handy during my own apprenticeship."

The apprentice may not graduate without training for the full five years and passing the final assessment.

"How so?"

The apprentice may ask any question he sees fit.

"I was very good at bending the rules..."

The apprentice must master unseen movement, archery, knife work, and basic survival skills.

"Oh really? I never would've guessed."

The mentor may choose any individual he sees fit, but must be willing to put forth the effort to train him.

"Just like how I never would've guessed how annoying you would be."

The mentor must feel a strong bond towards the apprentice.

"...How did you bend the rules?"

The apprentice must also feel a strong bond towards the mentor.

"I bent them in may different ways, all of them you could never understand because I'm just too clever."

This bond is very important; it may save one's life later on

"I'm smart!"

The apprentice must be able to know when to ignore authority, when to bend the rules, but also when to back down.

"That statement proves just how dumb you are."
