It was an ordinary day for once. The sun was out, the clouds were scarce, and everything was normal. Beach City seemed to have been free of all quirky phenomenons which usually took place on a day like today. There were no thirty foot monsters trying to wreak havoc on the town or some strange creature hunting the citizens. Everybody seemed to be carrying out there daily lives without the thought of anything weird about to occur.

However, the hiatus ended.

On a ledge overlooking the city, the grass was gently bending at the light power of the breeze blowing over the plain. The scene was disrupted as some vertical dark purple disk had appeared and spat out two people who were flung onto the tall grass face first. As quickly as the wormhole appeared, it vanished without any trace.

The two got up and both were seemingly clueless as their heads scanned the area in order to give off hints to where they were. They were both certain they weren't in the lab anymore.

Among the pair was a slim man who was built for mostly agility and speed. He was just over six feet tall and wore some sort of marine attire completed with a long, dark green shirt with different patches running down his upper arm, a black vest containing many pouches for various items, a belt which had a grenade launcher attached to it and held up his long black pants, and two holsters (one containing something that resembled a handgun and the other for a tomahawk) strapped to either hip. He also wore pure black gloves, run of the mill combat boots, and had a crossbow slung around his shoulder. His mouth and nose were covered with a long black cloth which ran up his neck, his eyes were hidden behind tactical goggles, and his hair and ears were smothered by a dark green army helmet.

The woman was near identical to the man, but with a few distinctions. She was missing a grenade launcher, a crossbow, and a tomahawk. However, she made up for these with a quiver full of arrows and a bow both hanging on her back and with an icepick connected to her belt. She also had a holster, but instead of a handgun, a taser occupied the space. She wore fingerless gloves and had a youthful, uncovered face. Her skin tone reflected her being of Asian decent with brown eyes that could stare through someone's soul. She also wore a helmet, but with a short, black ponytail protruding from the back.

"Oh no," mumbled one of them in a deep, masculine tone with a slight Russian accent. "What did that portal do? Where are we?"

"You're guess is as good as mine," replied the other in a more feminine English tone.

The man pointed to a low rising water tower, yet couldn't read the inscription due to the moderate distance. Yet, the woman new how to combat this and pulled out a rangefinder from her vest. She observed the tower and could easily make out the phrase "Welcome to Beach City".

She read out the logo, but neither one of them could recall knowing of a place called Beach City.

"No way..." remarked the man with awe. "I don't think we are in New York anymore."

The woman agreed. She put back the rangefinder and pulled out a compass. "From what I can gather, we are on the east coast. Maybe we're in Florida?"

"I don't think so," the man replied. "It's not hot nor humid enough. We are probably somewhere in Virginia."

"Well," the woman continued, "where ever we are, we need to find out for sure and get back home."

The two stood there for a moment in silence, until the woman broke it, saying, "We should head down to that town and gather as much information as we can on where we are."

"I agree," the man said. "Also, I haven't had lunch yet, so let's get something to eat."

"Alright, let's go." And the pair began there trek down from the ledge to the community below.
