Just a cheeky, fluffy one shot. And of course, i simply don't own New Girl x
Jess was sitting in the booth of the bar alone, chasing her straw around her glass with her tongue; and pretty much staring into thin air.
"You know, you'll force some unsuspecting bastard into cardiac arrest if you keep tonguing that straw." The voice was familiar and warm.
Jess shrugged. "I'm not too bothered."
Snickering and dropping down to sit opposite her; "Good job i'm used to it, huh."
She looked up and smirked. Nick Miller really did have beautiful eyes, one was ever so slightly larger than the other, it was dorky. It was cute.
"Finished your shift?" She asked, indicating over to the bar.
He smiled in response, meaning yes, but then nodding to confirm. He slid around the booth over to her side, and kissed her on the cheek.
"How's your day?"
She considered the question. "Average. I got hit on by a lesbian."
Nick's eyebrows shot up, grinning in either deride or arousal. "Do I need to be jealous?"
Laughing; "Only when I get sick of you, and intend on embarking in a torrid love affair with the school receptionist." Picking up his hands and interlocking it with hers to show her sarcasm.
"I look forward to it."
"You will rue the day, Miller."
Nick allowed a lazy smile to pass his lips. "3 months together and you're still calling me by my surname. Romantic. "
Jess snuggled up to him. "Happy Anniversary, I suppose."
He wrapped his arm around her and mumbled it back into her hair. They stayed like that for a while, until a loud banging noise came from the other side of the bar, causing them both to lift there heads to see the commotion. A barely legal guy was hitting a bunch of buttons on the jukebox.
"Y'know, maybe you should tell him it won't work until he puts money in." Jess suggested.
Nick shook his head. "My shift's over."
Jess pressed her lips together in thought. "Where are we going then?"
"Movies?"
Jess nodded. "Can we go to the small place on the corner? I don't fancy AMC."
Nick smiled. "Sure."
Jess looked at him with gratitude, she knew he wasn't too keen on it. The place screened unknown, foreign films. "I can't watch a movie and read subtitles and the same damn time!" he would complain. But he wasn't tonight.
They walked hand in hand, playing their little game about who's hand would get on top.
"I haven't had a 3 month anniversary in so long." Nick commented casually.
"Hey, you should have them more often. They're a hoot and a half."
Nick rolled his eyes. "You're psychotic."
"You should see my boyfriend."
Nick let out a "Pah" sound as they arrived at the cinema.
"So what are we gonna watch?"
"Gangs of Wasseypur- Part 2 is the next thing on." Jess replied.
"I haven't seen Gangs of Wasseypur- Part 1." Nick argued.
"Well you really missed out there."
Nick smiled, sensing the sarcasm in her tone. "What's it about?"
"Um, Gangs in Wasseypur. Obviously."
"Where's Wasseypur?"
"Um...Eastern France?" Jess guessed.
"India."
Jess shrugged. "How'd you know that?"
"I know these things, what you take me for?"
"An idiot." She looked at him pointedly.
"It says on the poster." Nick admitted.
Jess rolled her eyes and bought two tickets for Gangs of Wasseypur- Part 2, despite Nick's arguing, he went into the theater willingly enough and Jess still appreciated it.
"Cheers to no commercials." Nick said as they took their seats.
As the projector countdown begun, Jess fiddled idly with Nick's hand before whispering. "I love you."
He looked over, they hadn't said it yet. Nick had been waiting for her to say it, far too scared she wouldn't feel the same way.
He leaned over and kissed her lips softly, devouring the sweet taste of her lip gloss. "I love you more."
Jess shook her head. "Impossible."
