Disclaimer: Harry Potter is not mine, neither is Emily Brent from the book And Then There Where None
Emily Brent looked around in suspicion, as she was led to the back room of the restaurant, where the man from the letter would meet her. She settled into the straight backed oak chair, surveying the room around her. While waiting she observed what was obviously a private room, the walls lined with pictures and a merrily crackling fireplace, surrounded by chairs and a small table. Ms. Brent felt a prickling feeling settle into her, as if she was being watched and shifted uncomfortably. Suddenly through the door, a man who looked a century old strolled. He had a magnificent presence and she had the sudden urge to get up and curtsy to him. She got up however, she did not curtsy. Instead she watched as he stopped and looked her over.
"I am Ms. Emily Brent, and you are?" she asked in an imperious voice. The man's study abruptly stopped, as he smiled at her softly.
"I am Albus Dumbledore. It is a pleasure to meet you, my dear." His voice was powerful and wise. "I have called you here, to ask you to instill some discipline in my students. You see, I work at a school and I heard you would be able to help."
Ms. Brent stared at the old man, just now noticing his strange clothing. It was a long blue robe, with what appeared to be orange broomsticks. Sneering in disgust at the attire, she considered his offer. "What is this school called and how long will you need my services?" she asked, determined to get as much information as possible.
"It is called Hogwarts, and you will be needed until the bad behavior is over. You will of course be paid by the time and success." Dumbledore kept smiling sure he would get her to come.
Hogwarts, if that wasn't an unnatural name for a school, she didn't know what was. "Very well now what is taught at this school?"
"Why magic of course! Did you not read the letter?" Dumbledore was confused. Surely she had known before she came. Seeing her disbelief, he frowned and pulled out his wand. "Wingardium Leviosa." To Ms. Brent's disbelief, an unoccupied chair floated into the air.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" Jumping to her feet, she backed away in terror. Concerned Dumbledore let go of the spell and moved toward her. Seeing him approaching, Ms. Brent did the only thing she could think of at the moment.
Thwack! Her handbag connected against the side of the madman's head. The effect was instantaneous. Reeling from the blow, Dumbledore stumbled from the blow, dropping his wand. As she continued to attack, he couldn't help but wonder what was in the bag. She finally stopped, her chest heaving from the exertion.
"W…why?" Dumbledore managed to gurgle.
Straightening up self-righteously, she said, "You are an abomination! A danger to society, I have done what any proper god fearing women would of done!" As she stepped around him, a feeble hand grasped at her foot.
"Don…'t lea…ve." rasped Dumbledore. Without looking back, she pulled herself free and opened the door. There was a click as the door closed and all was silent.
