There were some who questioned the decision to let the teammates see the body, but they were few and far between. It was a tacit agreement among the older shinobi that death was something which needed to be faced; protecting the younger ninja from it would only be doing them a disservice.
While Gai and Lee wept openly and torrentially in another room, Neji sat crosslegged with Tenten's head cradled in his lap: heedless of the wounds that had killed her. Eyes closed, hands resting on his knees, he remained there for hours on end. He never once moved. All attempts to get him to leave and seek solace with the rest of his team were met with silence; all attempts to remove the body from his person were rebuffed with a simple opening of his eyes. Neji never turned his head, but neither did it ever bow.
After several hours, he simply rose-- easing Tenten's head out of his lap with infinite gentleness-- and walked out. He had not spoken a word since he was first led in.
It wasn't until he was back in his room at the estate that he let himself cry: and even then, he never let his head bow and never once made a sound.
