A Moment in the Park With Zeus"

Claire was sitting on a bench in the park waiting for Alex when a scruffy street Bum came up to her and sat down on the same bench.
She tried not to feel uncomfortable tried not to stiffen up but it was hard to not to do. Trained Therapist or not, the Homeless made her uncomfortable. Her nose twitched in apprehension. Then she realized with amazement he had no bad odor.
The Bum spoke, "I want to thank you for so much for helping my Grandson whom you call Trevor."
Claire's eyes lit up and widened at that! "Can you give me some background information? What is his real name? What was the tragedy that set him over the edge?"
The street Bum said, "We don't mind that he's a Mama's boy He doesn't have an ounce of military talent. He as a great Archer but we know he will never be a Solider. That's OK. Different strokes for different Folks and all that, but we had to take his bow away from him because he was hurting People and messing up their lives. And we had to kick him out of the Family homestead and send him somewhere where we could get him some help and he would be forced to grow up. I admit we are a very dysfunctional Family and so it is not completely his fault he is the way he is. I want to thank you so much for doing the best anybody can with the material provided. He thinks the Universe of you and he does seem to be listening to you to some extent."
The Man stood up and walked away. Claire trailed after him. But a hoard of Bicyclists were suddenly speed-biking down the path and somehow without getting hit the scruffy, little Fellow walked between them to the other side of the path. She took her gaze off of him for a few seconds to avoid getting hit by one of them and when she looked up he was gone.
She stared around the park. How could he have disappeared so quickly? Who was he? So Trevor's family was local. Or were they?
Alex came then. He could see her face was as white as a sheet.
"What is wrong, Sparky?"
She melted into his arms, "I just had the strangest experience! I think I just met Trevor's Grandfather, and guess what! Mental illness runs in the Family, or does it? How could he disappear so quickly?"
"Easy!" said the gentle Reporter. "Lets not talk shop today. The sun is shining. The Birds are singing and there is a two for one special on ice cream cones at the shop. Let's pretend we are Kids again and leave all talk of therapy and newspaper reporting for another day. Race you to the parlor! He took off and she took off after him.
Life can't always be understood but it should always be cherished.
