Easter Egg

„Will? What is that?" Helen asked a bit confused when her Protégé gave her a package. "I don't know. I found it when I came back and your name's written there so…" She nodded and turned the package in her hands. Her name stood at the top of the package, no address. "Everything ok, Magnus?" Her face-expression had become very serious so Will began to worry. "Yeah, sure… I'll open it later when I'm finished working." Helen told him and left to her office. Will stood there and looked after his boss. After a few moments of silence he left as well to do some of his work.

When Helen entered her office, she closed the door behind her and sat down. Still holding the package in her hands she looked down at it. Helen knew that handwriting … though she didn't see it in over 60 years now she could never forget that one. Slowly Helen put it on her desk then smiled at it before she opened the package carefully. Her smile grew even brighter when she saw what was in it. There was a short letter with it.

For the woman who owned my heart.

Who had it when we first met.

And who'll have it for all eternity and above.

I sended you a little egg because I know you.

Because I love you and always will.

Next to the letter Helen found an article about Easter. A few lines were marked and she read them.

"Originally, eggs were also exchanged by lovers or romantic admires, much the same as valentines."

And a small note finished the package.

Valentine's Day is much too ordinary, don't you think?

Helens soft laugh crossed through the room. She'll have to have a talk.

She finished her work later that day but still sooner than she usual did. Going outside she kept her eyes open. Helen knew he'd be there somewhere waiting for her.

"Nikola? I know you're here." Nikola smirked. She knew him much too well. But they had had enough time for that. He stepped forward from the tree he was leaning against and smiled at her with his typical smile. "Helen Magnus. Kiss me and I'll save your Easter." Helen couldn't help it and laughed about his remark and shook her head. "Nikola Tesla. Always know how to pay attention." "Back to old habits?" Nikola asked stepping closer to her. Helen returned his smile. That was her old Nikola. The one she hoped would never leave her. "When did you come back?" She asked moving closer like he did before. "This morning. I didn't want to disturb you." "Since when you care about those things?" His only answer was a bright smirk. "Anyway, I got your package." Nikola didn't even try to hide that it was him who had left it that morning. Not only because he knew it would be senseless to argue with her. During the talk they had he had stepped even closer than he already did. Helen gave him a small smile while showing him her hands. "An Easter egg really IS quite extraordinary, I'd say." When Nikola looked down at the egg in Helens hands he saw that it wasn't the one he had gave her. "Happy Easter?" He read and turned his gaze up to her eyes. She smiled warm. Nikola replied that smile with a huge grin and took the red egg. "Does the color mean something?" Nikola asked cheeky and blushing a bit she nodded. "I guess you know what, don't you? Yours was red as well." "Indeed, I do. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist me much longer." Helen laughed again at his remark. No, he never would change.

"Actually, I'm a genius, you know?" "You are." Nikola moved closer again and closed the gap between them with a little smile. Without hesitating Helen kissed him back and smiled as well. "Easter's my favorite holiday, you know?" Nikola grinned when they broke the kiss. Helen gave him one of her most beautiful smiles and nodded. "Mine as well." She paused for a second while watching him looking at her.

"I love you Nikola." And without any cheeky remark he replied her words and kissed her again.
