Matt Chandler looked around the room as the various delegates talked. They were going over one of the more controversial issues: global warming. Some delegates thought it was a big problem, others weren't so convinced. His gaze fell on Jason Lee Scott who looked completely worn out. Most likely, he had had another one of his night terrors again. After inadvertently witnessing one, he had attempted to talk to the youth, but had just been brushed off, saying that he and his friends could handle them. He then turned his gaze to Zack Taylor and Trini who sat on either side of him as if they were protecting him. Finally, they were dismissed.
"Hey, Bro, you sure you're going to be okay tonight?" he heard Zack ask.
"Yeah. You and Trini go have fun. I'm just gonna go take a nap," Jason responded.
"Are you sure? I mean, we can always---" Trini began to say.
"Go," Jason emphasized.
"Well, when you use that tone," Zack said.
"How can we argue?" Trini added. They took off. Jason shook his head started out of the room.
"Jason, hold up," Matt requested. Jason sighed and did as he was told.
"Matt, I'm fine. I just need a nap," he insisted.
"Jason, these dreams and night terrors have been occurring for months now. I think you should see someone about this," he told him.
"I can't. No one besides Trini and Zack would understand. And besides, I wouldn't be allowed to say anything," came the answer. What? What does he mean by that? Matt wondered.
"Jason, have you been threatened?" he asked in concern.
"What?" Jason asked. "No! No, that's not what I meant. It's just---I can't talk about this with you." Then, he walked out of the room. Matt sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. What was going on with the kid? Why wouldn't he talk to anybody? He made a mental note to check on him later and went about his day, filing reports and checking in with other delegates. Two hours later, he headed for Jason and Zack's room, where he saw that Jason had left the door open just a crack. With a slight laugh, he shook his head and approached the door. Then, Jason moaned.
"No. No, please. No, don't do this to him," he pleaded. Matt opened the door. Jason began to thrash about on the bed. "NO! STOP! YOU'RE KILLING HIM!" Matt ran into the room and raced to the bed where he grabbed the youth's wrists in an effort to steady him. "LEAVE HIM ALONE! STOP! STOP IT! STOP IT! TAKE ME! DON'T---NO, PLEASE!"
"Jason, Jason, come on, wake up," Matt urged. With a yell, Jason threw Matt onto the ground. Matt stared at the boy. What was he dreaming about? The screams turned into whimpers.
"Tommy…sorry…couldn't get it…woulda lost you." The whimpers changed back into screams. "NO! LET HIM GO! TOM---M---M---M---MMY!" It was to this scene that Zack and Trini arrived.
"Jason!" Trini gasped.
"Man, I knew we shouldn't have left him alone," Zack complained as they got on either side of him.
"STOP IT! STOP IT! NO!"
"It's really bad. Get the sedative," Trini instructed, trying to hold him down.
"Right," Zack nodded. He rifled around his bag until he pulled out a syringe and a clear liquid. Then, he filled the needle and jammed it into Jason's skin. Once more, the screams turned to whimpers.
"Maybe we should call---" Trini's voice caught as she saw Matt. "Home. This is getting really bad," she continued.
"Yeah. But later," Zack agreed.
"What's going on here, guys? What are these night terrors about?" Matt demanded.
"We can't talk about them with you," Trini answered.
"Guys---" Matt began.
"Just go, Matt. We got this," Zack interrupted harshly. Matt had no choice but to do as he was instructed. However, he vowed that sooner or later, he would get those three to open up.
