I sat at the window in my room, waiting. He was supposed to be here d any minute. Roxas3 He was amazing. I mean, sure, you probably think your crush is amazing, too. But Roxas can fight heartless and nobodies with a keyblade, and is the guy organization XIII has been waiting for for years. Can your guy compete with that?
Finally, my favorite blonde appeared in the yard. Quick as a flash, I ran to the door to meet him. As I opened the door, he gave me a hug.
"Namine, you look well. It's nice to see you."
I'd better look well. I'd spent over an hour on my hair and make-up. But I couldn't afford to mess this up. I took a deep breath as we sat down on the couch.
"Roxas, you're probably wondering why I asked you to come here, and I've never been one to beat around the bush, so let's get to it. I…well, um… yeah. I like you."
"Well, of course you do. You have to like someone to be their friend, right?" He grinned. Oh, Roxas. Always so naïve.
"No, I don't think you understand. I… like like you." His face reddened with understanding as I said it.
"oh, umm, thanks, namine, this was fun, but, ahh, I should really get going." He stood to leave.
"But, Roxas! You just got here. Look," I stood to see eye-to-eye with him. "I wanted to ask you something."
Please, please, don't choke, I thought.
"Would you like to go out sometime?"
He blushed. "Like… on a date?"
YES! He was getting it. "Yeah. Like a date."
"Oh, umm, I'm really sorry about this, Namine, but…"
Crap. I could just feel my face flushing.
"I really only like you as a…"
"Friend?" I finished, disappointed and embarrassed.
"I was thinking more…" He paused. "A friendly acquaintance."
My jaw dropped. This was terrible. I tried to gather what was left of my dignity.
"Well, you said you had to leave, don't let me hold you up." I opened the door, intent on shoving him out, but a red- haired guy was on my doorstep, arm raised as if to knock. Axel. Just what I needed.
"Oh, hey, Namine. I was just coming to get Roxas. He just texted me to come pick him up…" He trailed off awkwardly, seeming to absorb the aura of the situation.
"Well, bye, namine," Roxas said as he all but ran to Axel's car.
"I'll be there in a minute," axel called to the retreating figure. He then turned to me. "He turn you down?"
I nodded, my face increasing in brightness by the second.
"Yeah… Rejection hurts. I'd know."
