The kingdom of Hyrule had seen better days. Or at least that was what Princess Zelda was thinking as the Spirit Train rode past Castle Town with its load of Goron Iron headed to Whittleton. The sky was quickly turning to dusk ass Link blasted another skulltula with the cannon. As they reached the field she asked.
"Hey Link, could we stop here for tonight?"
"What? Oh, sure thing Zelda!" he replied happily as he slowed the train down to a stop. While he was setting up a fire, Zelda could only wonder
"A class-A engineer, a skilled swordsman, and a competent outdoorsman, are you really only fifteen?"
"Yeah, Alfonzo made sure I could survive out here for weeks, and he did used to be a castle guard…"
"Oh, hey Link,"
"Yes?"
"Do you think that Anjean is alright?"
"Yeah, she's fine, no doubt in my mind that she's waiting for us when we get to the Tower for your body!" he replied enthusiastically.
"Thank you Link, for everything. You've been so helpful this past week with everything. Truthfully, I'm almost jealous of your fearlessness." She stated with a blush on her face. "Link, I…"
"Princess, I'm not fearless. Not in the slightest."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that I've been terrified almost this entire time. I hate bugs, the Phantoms are terrifying, you excluded of course, and I'm pretty sure I was running on pure adrenalin in that last temple." He said with a sigh. Zelda was curious now.
"Then why do you try so hard? You always refuse to leave before you beat a dungeon, even that confusing Ocean Temple. Also, why are you so good at puzzles? You can fly through those things faster than Teacher would be able too." Link replied timidly
"Well, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if Malladus took your body. This quest has helped me become a better engineer for when this whole thing is over, and well, I've just always been really good at puzzles and riddles." He closed his eyes in thought and smiled. "You're the first person my age I've met, you're precious to me!"
"Oh… you're precious to me too Link!" Zelda giggled.
Dinner was a silent affair as Link finished off his packed rations. The fire grew dim as Link prepared for sleep. Before he drifted off, he heard Zelda whisper,
"I love you."
"Love you too, Zel…"
