"I can't stand this weather!" Rachel growled as the two girls made their way down the sidewalk.

Quinn next to her was practically skipping while they walked through the collecting snow. It was a good two inches that had covered the town of Lima while they were barricaded in McKinley High school from the lowering temperatures. The blonde had always loved the cold weather ever since she was a small child and her parents would take her to ski lodges.

"Why did we walk again?" Rachel groaned as they waited at a light to cross.

"Because I asked you ever so nicely too," Quinn smiled at Rachel, who glared at her as she stuffed her hands deeper into her pockets for warmth, "Quinn Fabray, you are absolutely insane." she huffed as they crossed the street.

Both girls walked in silence for a few minutes as they entered the large neighborhood. The streets were silent; they made fresh footprints with every step. "Quinn, can I ask you something?" Rachel questioned breaking the silence.

The blonde nodded eyeing the falling snow around her like rare jewels.

"Why do you like the snow so much? I mean you basically become fascinated with every flake?"

"I think snow is unique. How it collects in a mass that sheets a whole area making it blank like a campus," Quinn answered slightly impressed with her answer. She could tell Rachel wasn't so much.

"What about the freezing temperatures and winds?" she whined.

"It makes me feel human." Quinn answered.

What? Rachel asked confusedly as they continued their walk.

"It makes me feel human. "Quinn repeated. "My whole life I have had to deal with the feeling of being false to everyone, even myself. I was a manipulative jerk who used people. The snow makes my body feel like a real human. Does that make any sense?" Quinn's words made sense to her but she wasn't sure Rachel would get it.

"You're a complex person, you know that?" Rachel smiled back as they approached her house. "Thanks again for walking me all the way home. You didn't have to,"

"I'm more than happy too." Quinn smiled warmly.

"You're a good friend Quinn, I'm glad we can do this." Rachel said.

"Do what?" Quinn asked barely paying attention as her eyes gazed at the blanket of snow that had covered all the tall houses.

"A friendship," Rachel said nervously like she was expecting a denial.

Quinn felt the cold air seep through her jacket to her bones, the very chill causing her smile.

"Me too," Quinn said honestly.

"Goodbye Quinn" Rachel spoke heading for her front door.

Goodbye Rachel" she responded.

Quinn watched Rachel walk all the way to her door before turning around and heading to her own home. Quinn's face grew red as she walked away quickly from the short brunette. The cold no longer affected her due to the warming sensation she felt every time a thought of Rachel Berry popped through her head. The blonde sighed as a smiled stretched across her face. She had just realized Rachel had made her feel human when the cold couldn't.
