James stood in the field of golden wheat, his eyes catching the occasional poppy or emerald green shrub here and there. The boy sniffed as he watched his best friend's face fade in the back of the pick up truck. He could tell the other boy was crying too,the small face scrunched up in the effort not to. He swallowed and clenched his fists, lowering his eyes to the ground, trying not to run after the vehicle as he drove away. James Diamonds sunk to his knees, the daisy clutched in his small hand,a gift from the male fading away...
Kendall sobbed openly but then bit his bottom lip,in the back of the dark green truck. He didn't want to leave to the big city,to leave his best friend behind. His head hung,as he lifted himself up on his knees, gripping the barrier tightly. After a while,he turned, his back against the same barrier, and pulled his knees up to his face, wrapping his arms around them. Wiping his nose,he picked up the bluebells the other had given him, reminding him of the brilliant blue skies. Swiping the tears away with a sudden wave of determination,he stood back up on his knees and took in a deep breath, before yelling out,as loud as he could. " I love you James! Please wait for me!"
The words reached the boy,and he jerked his head up,eyes wide, then his features split into a warm smile. He didn't trust his voice at the moment, just nodded and raised the daisy, waving it gently, letting the boy know that he would.
Kendal gave shaky sigh and grinned, replying with a small wave of the bluebells, sitting back down. He'd be back. He would. Truly.
