AN: Alright, so this was for the FanFic Challenge, Round Three in Author's Corner. My Pairing was Hotch/JJ and my movie prompt was, While You Were Sleeping. This is really just a short drabble-y type story. Also, a bit of Hotch/JJ romance in there if you squint. Haha. Read and Enjoy. :) Watching Over You
JJ watched as Hotch nodded off to sleep. He was the last of her team members, besides herself, who was flicking through other case files, to fall asleep. She smiled as his head leant back subconsciously on the headrest behind him, a peaceful smile gracing his face. She'd never seen Hotch smile much before the divorce and Haley's death but after the events of the last few years it seemed like his grim stoic expression was permanently ingrained in his features.
She knew it was tough for him, being a single father to a young son and travelling across the country every other day to catch the baddies. She knew how much he yearned to just hold his son, to always be there for him and make good on his promise to Haley to teach him how to love.
JJ decided then and there, while he was sleeping that she'd do everything within her power to help him along, to show him he could be a great father and how he already was one. She figured that once the plane landed she would suggest Jack and Henry had a play date. Henry was almost two now and she knew Hotch would appreciate letting her son befriend little Jack Hotchner.
Closing the case file she was flicking through before being distracted, she saw Hotch shiver in his sleep. Carefully and quietly, JJ rose from her seat and opened the overhead cabin. She pulled down a gray woollen blanket, closed the cabin door and made her way to the back of the plane towards Hotch. Placing the blanket gently over him she smiled as he subconsciously snuggled into the newfound warmth. Bending down she placed a feather light kiss to his forehead, a wistful smile gracing her features and in that moment she knew that there was nothing she wouldn't do for one Aaron Hotchner.
