Sorry for the long delay in story uploads. My dad had 3 strokes back in March, I've gone through the loss of two cats, and I'm going through a lot of training to possibly get a promotion at work, so I've had a lot on my plate. Anyway, I finally finished this today and I believe I was successful in keeping Subaru as the PoV character. It's pretty short but I hope everyone enjoys it.

Place: in the middle of a field

Actor: a friendly vampire

Object: flowers swaying in the wind

Mood: thoughtful

The wind was cool and pleasant as it blew across the plain, tugging gently at the flowers and long blades of grass. Subaru could hear the ruffling of their capes as he and his twin slowly explored their surroundings. This place was starkly different from the desolation of Tokyo: there was no sand or dilapidated remains of buildings in sight, nor scent of decay and death. Instead there was a grassy field sparsely dotted with trees and flowers stretching to the horizon in all directions. The air felt slightly heavy and smelled like it might rain, though the sky was clear of any clouds.

As they entered the shade of a tall, leafy tree, Subaru felt himself come to a stop and turned to glance at his brother.

"What do you think?" he asked softly. "Should we stay here for a bit? It looks pretty deserted."

Kamui stepped closer to him, looking around; Subaru took his hand, feeling it tighten in anxiety. They had fled through at least half a dozen other worlds since their departure from Tokyo, indulging Kamui's fear of being found by the hunter. Subaru didn't mind, knowing it stemmed from a desire to feel safe, and a release of all that stress and fear his brother had been subjected to those three long years he'd been asleep.

Feeling a little guilty for being the cause of most of that stress, Subaru hoped they could stop and rest for a while, and ease his twin's worries.

"It's very peaceful here," he continued. "And it's just the two of us; no one's going to bother us." Subaru gave Kamui's hand a gentle squeeze that was meant to comfort as well as encourage. "Please, Kamui?"

Subaru waited patiently as his brother gazed into his face and then looked around the field once more. After a moment, Kamui took a deep, calming breath and nodded, giving Subaru a soft smile.

"Okay."

There you go. Any comments or helpful tips on how I portrayed Subaru would be much appreciated. I feel like he's harder to get a grasp of than Kamui, especially since he gets so little screen time in Tsubasa.
