"Passion... is born... And though uninvited, unwelcome, unwanted…it takes root. It speaks to us, guides us; passion rules us all. And we obey. What other choice do we have?

Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love, the clarity of hatred, and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear.

If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace. But we would be hollow. Empty rooms, shuttered and dank.

Without passion, we'd be truly dead."

Christian felt his heart rot away. Satine had used him. Toyed with his innocent young heart. Made him think that she could love a penniless writer.

Every song, every word, every kiss……a filthy lie. She had crushed his heart into a thousand pieces for her own pleasure. She had destroyed him.

And he hated her. Hated her for loving the Duke over him, betraying him, playing games with his heart.

Christian hated her so much with a passion it hurt. He wanted to see her feel the agony in which she had inflicted upon his heart. That passion drove him. Gave him evil thoughts. The passion of hate was slowly calling to him, and he found himself obeying its every order.

But a mist the angry screams of hate was the beautiful song of love. Even though hate for her stirred inside him……he still loved her with all of his being. He hated her so much……he loved her.

The song her heard in his head song that had filled him since he had met Satine. A song of love and bliss and pure utter happiness. The song cried out to Christian. It told him she still loved him. That she had adored him since they first met. That he must forgive her and go back to her.

Both passions raged on in Christian's head for what seemed like hours. One with the voice of fury and the other with the sweet melody of love. All screaming in his head at once. The voices of passion in his head were driving him insane. But though the maddness came clarity. He must return to the Moulin Rouge……he must know the truth. He must know if Satine truly loved him the way he still loved her, or was he just another fly caught in a tangled web of her courtesan games.
